The fact is that HairM provides a really nice experience for their customers and they do so at an extraordinary price. I grew up in L.A., where you can get a facial, scalp massage, neck rub, and glass of wine with your haircut–if you pay hundreds of dollars for it. At HairM, those are standard parts of the King’s Cut, which costs under $50. It’s more expensive than Rudy’s or Bishop’s, but you get a genuinely relaxing experience that you can really look forward to. My search for an incredible and perfect hair stylist is finally over!! Heather is absolutely the answer I have been waiting for. You guys, she is an angel sent from heaven!!!! I have been to way too many hair stylists and salons (seriously, it’s embarrassing to share all the places and people I have been to in order to find Heather) only to be disappointed. All my haircuts in the past have either been terrible, mediocre, or just something that I am not wowed by. You know those people you see walking down the street and you want to just stop and ask them where they get their hair done? Well….thanks to the lovely Heather, I am now one of those people! I have NEVER been one those people until I went to Heather! It’s not only that other people notice my fabulous hair, but I feel like a movie star now. After years of ‘nothing-special’ kind of haircuts, I was so ready to feel movie star like! Nothing beats when you feel amazing because of a haircut! Heather listens and spends so much time
I don’t know where to begin. I love this place. Frankly, I can’t really afford it – or any spa – at this time in my life but I make it work about 3x/year (and my husband knows to get me gift certificates there!) because what it does for stress is SO WORTH IT. I always get the 80 minute massage and then sit in the grotto afterward. The price of the massage may be a tad higher than at other places, and I almost put that down as a “con,” but the grotto is included which makes it waaaay worth it for what you get, since I’d pay just to use it! It’s like being transported to another place and time – a very roman baths feel or maybe it’s an ancient tomb feel (nice dim lighting too, which can be adjusted) but whatever it is, it’s amazing. You sit in this very large (small pool-sized) jacuzzi next to a beautiful tiled wall with tea candles and they bring you wine or champagne or tea or a few other options, with appetizers, and the ceiling above slowly changes colors and has stars! I’ll admit that I’m kind of a traditionalist when it comes to grooming and fashion. I grew up going to the neighborhood barbershop where men sat around talking about the weather, their crops, politics and the like. It was really a matter of convenience that forced we away from this type of barber shop–they never seem to be open when I have time for a hair cut. It was with great reluctance that I began visiting chain salons for a hair cut. They never did a bad job on my hair–I go for a pretty simple style, which helps–but it was always more of a chore than a positive experience to get my hair cut. Not so with Hair M. I now find myself looking forward to my next hair cut. The atmosphere combined with the quality of service make it a great experience. I cant say enough wonderful things about Nickol…. Im so impressed with her work on my hair. Nickol has been my stylist for years and I cant imagine having anyone but her color or cut my hair. She is a genius when it comes to color! She talks with you on what you are wanting done and really cares about the health of your hair which Ive never encountered before. Im used to paying someone to do what I ask and never received any input, even if what Im asking for will damage my hair, which I may not be aware of. Nickol wants the best for your hair and gives tips on keeping your hair beautiful. Im always completely satisfied with the results. After one such appointment, Nickol described to me the thermal straightening process after I complained one rainy day how my hair just seems a mess for so many months during the year since portland is so rainy.
