Where is the Best Martini in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania?
First I would like to say that I was looking for somewhere for a nice dinner between my wife and I for our Second Anniversary. She wanted to be surprised, and I being not all that creative or familiar with the city nightlife. I did some research on restaurants, and after narrowing down my options I ultimately chose Fork. The cuisine was American and the atmosphere upscale/casual. Right down my alley. I was not disappointed at all, I had made a reservation online and asked, if possible for a little bit of privacy in my seating location, a request they seemed to honor as they sat us in the front window at a two-seater table with a view of Market Street. Our server was very courteous and attentive. and we had drinks very quickly, and had ordered an appetizer, which came pretty quickly as well. Our Entrees took a bit longer than we expected but our atmosphere and conversation made time seem to pass quickly, Our meals had arrived and we were very happy with the wait. My pork chop(med) was
I don’t know where these people that had these problems ate, but I’ve never had any of these problems at Valanni. The food is always prepared perfectly and the service is ALWAYS top notch. I personally don’t know anyone that works there and I’ve never been made to feel anything less than welcome. With this being said, I need to touch on the new menu items, excellent changes without shaking up the menu to much (a fault that I see happen at many restaurants). I hope that these nay-sayers don’t discourage people from experiencing one Philly’s truly wonderful places to dine.Pros + SERVICE!!!!! and of course the food.Cons – Withou a reservation on the weekends you may have to wait.
Woodydunck isn’t kidding when he calls Sassafras burgers “bangin’!” They are simply the best in Philadelphia, hands down! Every possible combination of chesses and sauces is available. I recommend you mix and match…experiment. But there are much more than burgers on offer in this Old City institution (30yrs on the block and still going strong.).Check out the homemade Mongolian Dumplings or gooey French Onion soup. …or, just stop in for a relaxing drink with the knowledgable and friendly barstaff. These guys pour a killer martini…old school style! Basically, Sassafras is an all round winner!Pros + Best Burgers, Great Drinks, Romantic Spot
I like Rouge, but this place honestly isn?t for everyone. It has all the things you?d think of with a Rittenhouse scene, both good and bad. It seems like the crowd there could get a little pretentious, but I didn?t find that to be the case with the patrons or the staff when I had dinner there with my mom recently. In fact, two women seated next to us struck up a great conversation with us when they overheard us discussing politics. And our waitress was exceptionally friendly. The prices are a little high on some items, like the $16 burger, but my mom said it was the best burger she?s ever had. I had salmon in an oxtail sauce that was perfectly cooked. Amazing, actually. The bottom line is, whether you?re the type to frequent this spot or make it a special occasion visit, the food is great and it?s a chic little place.Pros + great food, located on the square, it’s part of the rittenhouse scene (if that’s your thing)Cons – it’s part of the rittenhouse scene (if that’s not you
