Where is the Best Martini in Orange County, California?
We checked in at the Hyatt Newport and asked the concierge to recommend a restaurant and without hesitation he said “Oysters”. So we had him make us a reservation. We showed up about 30 minutes early and thought we would have a drink at the bar. The maitre d’ said he could seat us right away if we wanted, so we took him up on his offer. We started off with the Spicy Salmon Tempura Roll which was incredible. Then we had the Kung Pao Calamari. This is one of the best dishes I have ever had, the calamari was tender, sweet, spicy, fabulous!!!! The entrees were just as incredible. I had the Halibut with shrimp risotto and my wife had the white sea bass with creamy mashed potatoes abottle of Hitching Post Pinot Noir to go with it and i’m talking culinary heaven. Our server was top notch, pleasant, knowledgeable, attentive without being intrusive, a real pleasure. After the meal the comped us after dinner drinks, a Tuaca for me and an Amaretto for my wife. The Cannery Seafood of the Pacific is an old, famous restaurant that serves excellent fresh seafood of all kinds and everything that goes with it. It’s pricey, but well worth it for good fresh fish dishes. There will be a wait on weekends, but if you are not in a big hurry, it’s worth waiting for. The service is good and the restaurant is so nice inside…it’s fun to go here.
I love taking my boyfriend & parents to 230 Forest after walking alongside the beach and window shopping on Forest St. This is definitely a place to share with family and friends. Plus, they have enough flat screen TVs with sports games on; enough to keep the guys entertained & not at all distracting for everyone else to enjoy their meal. The menu is made up of seafood & poultry, all of which is incorporated into classic American favorites such as baby back ribs, mac & cheese, grilled fish, steak & even beef stroganoff. Food to try:Swordfish with crab meat – This was a chef’s special & had a medley of corn, tomatoes, garlic & crab meat on top of the swordfish. No corn from a can from this place, it had the vibrant crunch of fresh corn!Gorgonzola Mac & Cheese – Not on the menu, this is a side dish on one of the entrees. It’s small enough to share with another person & adds to any meal. They added a little spice to the cheese & topped it with breadcrumbs for extra oomph.Hois
