Where is the Best Martini in New York, New York?
People always write reviews about how mean doormen are in Manhattan, and I would like to write a good review about the doormen at Libations. It was absolutely freezing out last night, and my girlfriend and I were standing on line at LIbation. When we got to the front we were greeted nicely by the doorman, but we had to wait while he let a few parties go in front of us. We didn’t complain, and stood there patiently, and the doorman was so nice to us, and he gave us some free drink tickets because he made us wait in the cold while he let the other parties go in front of us. We were also greeted very nicely by the other doorman when we walked in. Such a nice experience for once. I definitely enjoyed my night more once I got inside. Nice doormen DO exist in Manhattan!
I was there on a Wednesday night. The place was not crowded at all, just a couple groups of people having a great day. Mostly couples. The atmosphere was very relaxed, and it showed in all the people totally letting go and having fun. The bartender was very nice and responded well to me asking her to make anything she wanted. I hate when bartenders give you blank looks when you don’t spell out exactly what you want. This girl was great though! The music they played was good, not too loud or obtrusive. Although I ended up sitting on the comfy couches in the corner which happened to be right underneath a speaker. This was a little annoying but no worse than any other loud bar. The drinks were very good and not too pricey. I heard they had a fireplace, and I thought it was funny to see a working fireplace, only with 3 lit candles resting peacefully in it. I can’t wait to go back on a weekend when It’s more hopping. Midnight on Wednesday isn’t prime party time. Which made this the pe
After a long search for the perfect place to have a birthday party, I stumbled upon Stir. I walked in and was immediately charmed by the non pretentious decor and friendly staff. This staff included Joe, one of the managers of Stir. Joe was genuinely helpful and never tried to sell me on anything. We reserved a nice sized section that comfortably accommodated 40 + guests and purchased two bottles. The bottles were reasonably priced. We started off the party with food, which was a perfect mixture of party food. It was certainly not your typical bar food.As the night went on, Joe and his waitstaff made sure we were always taken care of. There was no confusion about tabs or tips; the waitress kindly let everyone pay in cash for each drink.Stir never became too crowded, the music was consistently good and there was no uptight doorman giving people a hard time at the door. No one had a problem getting in.Everyone had a great time. This place is perfect to throw parties. Just
My friends and I made reservations at Pravda for my best friends 21st Birthday Party. We had a group of about 15 people. The waiter was very patient with us as some people arrived late and she was very attentive. The drinks were delicious, but I’m not sure if $20 a cocktail was worth it. When we got the bill we were surprised that the cocktails were much more expensive than the menu had listed, but regarless we enjoyed ourselves. They allowed us to put our friends birhtday cake in their kitcken and after they brought it out and let her blow-out the candles, they then took it back and brought us each a piece. Other than the pricey drinks, 2 thumbs up.Pros + Interior, Food, CocktailsCons – Expensive
If you make a reservation in advance like I did, you won’t have trouble getting in. This is Crif Dogs after all. The atmosphere is nice… very loungey and chill. The music isn’t turned up too loud so you can carry a conversation. The only weird things about this place were: (1) there were stuffed dead animals on the walls as decoration and (2) the bartenders appear to be dressed like crab fishermen. The bartenders do take their grand ole time making drinks. We waited 10 – 15 mins for our drinks to arrive at our table. We were all disappointed with our “specialty” cocktails. While they weren’t terrible, there was nothing special about them at all. My friend ordered a drink with “orange bitters” … I didn’t realize that meant a sorry-looking orange peel thrown into a miniscule glass of gin. The bartenders do not know how to make a proper drink here. The waitress did not seem to have much knowledge of the drinks on the cocktail menu either. I would recommend going to Milk & Honey if you
