Where is the Best Martini in Dallas, Texas?
Had a great b-day dinner at the Dallas location of N9NE last night. I have a few quibbles, but thankfully they’re not with the food. Everything we ate was very good, at times veering into marvelous.I started with the Rock Shrimp. Think popcorn shrimp with a salty-spicy batter and an exquisite Sriracha-based hot sauce. If I had to knock it, I would say that the power of the batter drowned out the shrimp a bit, but there’s no denying that what it drowned it out with was pure delicious. My wife got the daily soup, Black Truffle Potato, and it was rich, subtle and warming. We then went for another starter round and shared the Kobe Tatare, a first for us. The succulent beef was well chopped, and a generous Dijon sauce (pre-mixed in) did much to distract from the fact that it was raw. Honestly, it was delicious; a great surprise for us both. I did have a problem in that my brain would say “no” even while my tongue would say “yes” (gotta love those natural instincts), but that’s somethin
Although our Entertainment Book coupon wasn’t honored, Sol Irlandes posted that on the door and marquee. Attentive staff, including the valet. Manager checked on us twice and the wait staff worked as a team to take care of ours and the neighboring tables’ needs. Great food and drink at fair prices. We shared the Fish Taco Wrap and Acapulco Enchiladas. Best location on Main Street, too.Pros + Great Waitstaff, management, , drinks, and atmosphereCons – The chips didn’t do justice to the fantastic salsa
This used to be my favorite hang out when it first opened, not to mention the fantastic, hot Australian bartender, and his great drinks!! Now it seems a bit like a college hang out, with dorky, poser bartenders that will serve any underage drinker for a tip. It’s lost its touch since the original bartender left, as many of my friends would agree. We feel like we’re at a “frat party” when we enter this place. The food used to be much better as well. I work in the modeling industry, and I’m always out scouting at Dallas’ hottest places. I wish Spike would get their original bartender back. The master drink maker, Nathan, and their former hot crowd. If you’re an 18 year old (teeny bop, or SMU Student), then this is the place is for you. Those of you in your late 20s, don’t waste your time… this place has lost its touch!! The original food was much, much better, as well!
Four of us arrive at Suite well healed. My physician friend is taking us out to celebrate his just announced engagement. We were told that to enter we were to purchase a table and a bottle per couple, for a minimum of $600. For New Years Eve that’s one thing, but for a regular night and it being somewhat early, (there was no crowd and the parking lot was near empty) I just wonder what gives. Attractiveness can be arbitrarily judged, but if we arrive well dressed, and there is room, then our business should be appreciated. No SweatPros + LocationCons – Crazy Prices
