Where is the Best Martini in Austin, Texas?
I went to Cedar Door with a large group of friends for a birthday. I’d been to Cedar Door a few years ago and was impressed by the wonderful service. Our server Nichole? was an absolute joy and was very helpful (definitely try the Mexican martinis). The bar was a little busy and crowded, but the atmosphere is great- very down to earth and fun, not at all pretentious like some places. The food was ok, but there are a lot more pro’s than con’s. Highly recommended for it’s charm and great crowd.!Pros + service, atmosphere, parking and Mexican martini’sCons – food menu could use more healthy items
I think you were in the wrong spot, if you voted less than 5 stars. Yes, the bar opens at 9, but honestly who wants a hyped up scene right at 9. The reason why I love this bar so much, is because after work I can go to a happy hour with the team from work, and if a few of us want to go somewhere after happy hour, we’ll head over to Firehouse. It’s clean, it’s cozy, at 9 it’s not too loud, the bar staff is friendly and hot, and on a couple of occassions I’ve gone there alone. I don’t mind heading there alone, because I know the barstaff will keep me company until my friends get there, or I meet new ones. It’s an awesome place to be yourself at. Single, Married, Dating, Gay/Lesbian/Bi/Confused/Straight, it doesn’t matter. It’s a very mature 21+ bar, with a healthy, fun, and beautiful environment. Everyone I bring into Firehouse is always impressed with the bartenders, because they shake your hand, they greet you by name, and they don’t forget it, another reason why I like to arrive earl
I’ve been here for HH many times but never on a Friday and we never have sat at the bar until this Saturday. My girlfriend and I had dinner here this past Sat. before we went out for the evening and our experience was a “first class, five star” service. The really funny thing were the two bartenders making us laugh because they were joking with one of the guest about not getting them two confuse, one has hair and one doesn’t. The “no hair” guy greeted us and took our order. He went as far as placing napkins down for us. He just didn’t take our order and ran off to make drinks. He made sure we were comfortable and satisfied before he moved on. My comment was, “Wow! VIP treatment”! We both agreed! Both of them checked on us and “no hair” made us an “Asian Love” martini. That was the best drink I ever had made with champagne. As we were sitting there, one thing we both notice was that everyone comes over to this guy and he treats everyone of them with the same courtesy. We’ve b
I find myself at Trudy’s at least twice a week. Sometimes I crawl in there in the morning for a quick plate of much-needed breakfast tacos. Sometimes I stroll up in the afternoon after work for happy hour. Either way, I rarely leave disappointed. The food is pretty standard Tex-Mex, the kitchen is cool about vegetarian/vegan options and both their red and green complimentary salsas are excellent. Drink prices are great and, if you can make it there before 5pm, you should have no trouble snagging a table on the patio. I’ve had one really bad service experience but I chalked that up to one particular server paying too much attention to a table of off-the-clock employees and not enough attention to our table. Trudy’s is not changing the way we think about food, but it is keeping us full and filling up our glass whenever we ask.
Online reservations, great, but when I called to confirm I spoke with a very unfriendly, young male host. That should have tipped me off to the level of service I should expect. Bar service took too long, waiter took even longer. Drinks during dinner took far too long and several were just plain forgotten! The menu is deceiving, it looks like a delicious assortment but it’s all rather bland. The food is not fresh, it’s thawed. From the ceviche to the mango salsa I was consistenly disappointed. I’ve been to several South American restaurants and this one is by far the least impressive. It’s as if Chili’s opened up a Latin chain, making it overpriced for what it is. Good for a group because of the large space, and with good company you forget so much about the mediocrity of the food itself.Pros + Spacious, Decent Parking, Good for GroupsCons – Service, Value, Flavor
