Where is the Best Lunch Spot in Portland, Oregon?

I noticed this restaurant a few weeks ago when driving by. The decor is fresh, colorful and different. So this last weekend, my husband, son and I were out in the Pearl district and decided to try the place out. It was a great overall experience. The staff was very attentive and very kid friendly (my son is 3 year). The place is spacy and my son loved the lively plastic organge/red chairs. When we wanted to move tables because my son wanted to see how is pizza was being made, it was no problem. Several people helped us move our stuff. I am not a fan of chees pizza in general (my son ordered), but this thin crust version was yummy. Tried the chicken of the main entree list and it was really good and somewhat unique. The appetizer slads were different and refreshing. The noise level was medium – perfect for a family visit. We are definitely going back here.Pros + Kid friendly, good pizza and ambience, friendly service, casual

I have visited this restaurant 4 times now. The first 2 were fabulous. I tried the Rueben w/Pastrami my first time and I was very impressed. I sat at the bar counter in front of the grill and watched the cook work his magic. He was quick but very diligent. The second time I ordered the roast beef sandwich. Content again and impressed. At that point I had eaten here twice and only by myself. I was ready to really talk this place up. I visited again with a good friend and of course was bragging about how good the food was there. Service had always been sloppy and slow but the food made up for it. Anyway, my friend ordered the corn beef sandwich and I, the chicken salad. Mine was fine, potato salad is always good on the side, FYI. However, my friend’s sandwich was dry, sloppy and resembled something that would be in a packed lunch thrown together in a hurried rush to get out the front door and only to make sure you had something, anything to put in your stomach for the d

I visited Pearl Bakery and purchased a lemon tart, skinny French bread, a shortbread cookie, an Espresso brownie and a chocolate croissant. The chocolate croissant was very good, though nothing was special about the other pastries and bread. The shortbread cookie was somewhat “moist and chewy” inside. I expected shortbread would be nice and dry. I didn’t like the shortbread.

Been there twice (2 days apart…we were so impressed with the food the first time around). Nice decor. Very good service. Avocado salad is amazing! There’s a strong aroma of oil (esp. noticable on clothing the next day) but given that it’s a small place in an old building (poor ventilation), I’m guessing it can’t be helped. Great value for the money.PS Very good coffee too.Pros + Very good food! Very good service.Cons – Strong odor of deep frying oil (small place)

I love the Daily Cafe. I wish I lived closer so I could go more often. Recently I had the two specials for lunch: a sandwich of roasted vegetables, hummus and lettuce, and the cauliflower soup. The portion size was perfect, and the service was lightning-quick–I had barely found a table before they were calling my name. The sandwich was a little on the plain side, but the soup was piping hot and surpringly light for what I assume was a cream base.I have also been for the prix fixe brunch menu, and it is Fab-u-lous. They have interesting, seasonal choices, and the breakfast sandwich I had with egg, bacon and some kind of delicious sauce was one of the best breakfast sandwiches I have ever had.Service is great, food is great. Daily Cafe is the best.Pros + Great brunch and lunch, good variety, several veggie optionsCons – It’s not close to my house!
