Where is the Best Lunch Spot in Minneapolis, Minnesota?
My brother and I were looking for a good inexpensive place to chow down and I took him to Kinhdo. We loved our waitress, who was speedy and adorable as well as efficient. Our Spring Roll appetizer was excellent (as always). And we had one pork and one shrimp entree, both of which were outstanding. I’ve always had good food and service at this location and my brother thought it was one of the best places he’d eaten (visiting from Philadelphia).Pros + Good Food, Pleasant Servers, Reasonably PricedCons – Can be long waits
The pork chops are huge, impressive, and way tasty. Being quite large, there is no possible way they could be cooked to order in the time afforded an average patron for dinner. Consequently they are cooked earlier and stored. This seems odd, but it is a common practice with large cuts of meat. Ok, so… I received *my* chop and it was barely warm which was unfortunate because I was quite excited. I sent it back to be reheated and it returned a bit browner but still not warm enough. I almost suggested it be brought up to a core temp of at least 150f but elected to finish it as is. If this chop was to temperature, it would have been the best one I have ever had. The apple and yam side was amazing however the rosemary garnish mildly reeked of mildew. It is the opinion of this writer that a bit more attention to the details would propel this restaurant’s stellar menu to new heights.
The Dinner-of-the-Month crew ended up in St. Paul for the July dinner. Everyone enjoyed the food and the restaurant itself. Our waitress was professional; at least the few times we saw her throughout the evening. She took a long time to notice that the last two of our group had arrived and needed drinks, was nowhere in sight when our entrees came out, didn’t come to check on us until we were almost done, and forgot to bring me the wine flight I ordered (worse, she seemed to know it was missing when I was finally able to get her attention). Heck, the waterboy was the first to notice that some of us needed drink refills. This unfortunately distracted from an otherwise flawless meal. I had the gnocchi with duck confit, which while a little too salty, was very flavorful and lighter than it sounded or looked. I made reservations for four (even though it was a Tuesday night) because we had enjoyed the restaurant so much on our first occasion. Too bad. The service was friendly and helpful, the ambiance was relaxing, but the food was just a disappointment. No flavor, the pizza was soggy, both steaks undercooked (not a problem for me but my girlfriend is training herself away from well done to medium and couldn’t eat the middle at all). The half priced wine was great, but overall, still too expensive for food that was not enjoyable. Last note, it also bothered me that even though the reservation was in my name, the host/manager only referred to my boyfriend and would not make any eye-contact with me at all.
