When I am craving crab, I go to Trulucks. Their crab claw platter (just like the one pictured) is second to none in town – in fact, I’m don’t know of another place I’d go for the same meal. Definitely an upscale place, the vibe is a bit old world traditional – plush rounded booths, shiny dark wood accents. The waiter we had was almost overly attentive so the service was excellent if not a bit overwhelming at times. Be prepared to get your hands a little dirty when you dig into the crab claws. You will be amply rewarded with sweet tasty crab that is delicious by itself or dipped rich drawn butter. The carrot cake dessert is large enough for 4, but sinfully delicious and moist, exactly how carrot cake should taste. The happy hour in the bar area really good too – everything is half off and the cocktails are extremely good (about $5). My husband and I recently were driving up the down the streets in the River Oaks area to look at all the Holiday lights. When we stumbled across this little cafe for dinner. When we first walked in, we noticed the lovely holiday decorations that seems to give this restaurant a warm and cozy feel to it. Which we like very much.We were greeted by the friendly staff and seated right away. Amazingly, since it was crowded. After looking at the delicious menu it was time to make up our minds. I started with the baked goat cheese salad. A little bigger than I expected, but so tasty I ate the whole thing. The combination of the grilled apples, spiced pecans and an entire bulb of roasted garlic made this salad my new favorite. My husband had the tortilla crusted shrimp. YUM!! The service was good and they have a small patio out front that is good for nice days. The menu has a lot of variety for vegetarians and/or health conscious eaters. The guacamole and chips appetizer was a good start. The guacamole was above average, the chips and salsa were fresh too. The rotisserie chicken was fantastic! It came with mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. The gumbo was very good too if you’re okay with beans. It has a more authentic taste to it so start off with a cup if you’re unsure. I hear most everything on the menu is good and the Sunday brunch is a must have. If you have a fat wallet and you are devout fan of National Waffle Day, you can’t go wrong with the Four Seasons’ brunch.Simple, warm maple syrup over a fresh, toasty mini waffle, makes one forget about filling up with overly-decorated waffles, bland pancakes, or heavy bagels from the regular breakfast greasy-spoons. Create each mini waffle with different fruit and fresh whipped cream for dessert, and order your coffee black to contrast the tastes. I’ve lived in Houston all my life and had yet to try Capital Grille. My lovely bf thought that Vday 09 would be a great chance for both of us to try it out. We went for the 13th to try and cut down on the crowds a teeny bit. We got lucky and snagged a parking space without valet. The restaurant was packed to the gills. We were seated within 5 minutes of our reservation time and greeted by our very pleasant and knowledgeable server Rene. The wine list is extensive with choices in various price ranges. We chose an easy drinking cab and proceeded to go over the menu.
