Where is the Best Lounge in San Francisco, California?
The bartenders here are very skilled, and make coctails the “right” way — they don’t cut corners, which means your drink might take 5 minutes to make. They stirr, whisk, shake, and serve with care…basically, how I make my coctails at home for special guests. The results are really great — in particular, I enjoyed the rye Manhattan, hand built and complete with brandied cherry (not some neon pink pseudo-cherry). Also enjoyed some other more exotic combinations once they won me over with the Manhattan, like a basil something-or-other (sorry, I forget, but it was awesome!) and some infused vodkas. I don’t enjoy the crowds on weekend nights, but there are plenty of off-times I can grab a drink or 2 at the bar with less of a circus atmosphere. My favorite bar hands down for a variety of reasons. Dress up or dress down – it’s all good as the mix of hip, casual, and eclectic patrons are usually grooving to dj beats. The Happy Hour drink prices are a bargain, and serviced by a friendly, attentive, and attractive staff! Can get crowded at times late at night which makes it a little tough to maneuver in narrow rectangular space. However, if you’re on one of the couches, you’re set.
I just want to give a shout out to Ms. Jona, the Asst. Mgr. & all her helpful staff at Sugar for letting use their beautiful bar last night as a venue for an organization I belong to. Everyone, loved the look & feel & just overall sleekness of the place. Besides, that you get beyond the sleekness and at the same time you feel welcomed there…we all had a blast last night & again, thanks to Jona & her excellent staff they made the night even smoother & successful for our big group b/c they were so helpful & accomodating throughout the night. I was told the drinks were pretty dang great too…even though I was trying to keep my wits about me as the coordinator just drinking bottled water throughout the night.Also, big pluses for the huge movie screen playing movies at night inside & OUTSIDE the establishment…the neat-O factor is high on that one…
Hip and Happening Little Venue. my girl and I got to experience this place twice. We found it as wandering tourists out on a weeknight, and returned on a busy weekend. This place doesn’t showcase live music but they had some kind of IPOD game. You submit it and they play your tunes until some one “gongs it”. If you get away with 25 minutes w/ out being “gonged” you get a free drink. Late night weekends are crowded. That night feature d a killer rock&roll show, where this crazy mexican psychobilly bartender literally lights the bar on fire, dancing around to the tune of GNR’s welcome to the jungle. It was an Awesome show in itself! Some of the regulars told me this was a typical weekend. Appearantly this place hires rockstars… that are also fast and friendly. in the hetero/CustomerService- atypical SFrisco kind of way) The place has no food, BYO seemed to be acceptable. I wolfed down some righteous fish tacos from nearby Nicks Crispy Tacos in plain sight of the barkeep w/out
