Where is the Best Lounge in New York, New York?
I went out with a friend on Friday night and we were looking for a place to grab a few drinks. Somehow we ended up walking by Las Chicas Locas and neither of us had ever heard of it before, but it had a nice sign and looked promising. We were pleasantly surprised when we saw the lounge area, which had really comfortable seating and a relaxed atmosphere. Margaritas are always my drink of choice, so I ordered a regular and my friend tried the blushing chica–they were both AMAZING. The regular margarita was perfect (have it without salt!) and had no sour mix filler–it was full of fresh lime and not too sweet. The blushing chica was new to both of us, but had its own distinctive flavor and sweetness. It was like a mix between a margarita and a cosmo martini and it was awesome. I highly recommend this place for the margaritas and can’t wait to go back to try the food! Pros + Margaritas
i was invited to a friends birthday party here and i must say i was pleasantly surprised. I didnt get great service at the door, there was a girl collecting a cover charge with a fro and she was beyond MEAN. jeez, what was her problem?oh and that bartender…she knows herself…GET OUT OF THE SERVICE INDUSTRY!!! the other bartenders were great. The bouncer i met was friendly, and facilitating, yet he was a bit brash. The service inside made up for these three idiots though. we had a blast. i love the fact the they played a nice mix of latin tunes, although some were heard more than 3 times. it wasnt too crowded , which was a surprise and my friends had lots of space to dance salsa, which is hard to say at over 80 % of nyc clubs. the place does have room for improvement with some of their staff but overall everything else was surprising pleasant. i think i will have my birthday there next year. and i definitely will return before then!Pros + lots of space, lots of space, great plac
Thought we’d give it a try to see if the “Deathwatch” is valid. This place is a monster restaurant with no one capable in charge. We waited forever…………….. for our table at at very weird feeling bar for MePa area. The cocktails are overpriced juice drinks – typical of a hyped up place. When we finally got a table, our server spilled almost everything. The food tasted like warmed up leftovers with some “African” spices and took forever. The meatballs had a weird chew to them. The fish was overcooked and soggy. The hummus was ordinary with regular pita. We skipped on dessert. This place is like a New York style Rainforest Cafe experience. Maybe a gift shop could help??? I wouldn’t recommend it for a serious dining spot, but then I was never a big fan of Marcus Samuelson’s “Scandinavian” place either.
I tagged along with a group of friends who decided on Arlo & Esme for a birthday. We got there around 11ish I think, and I didn’t have to pay cover, which was cool. Coat check cost $3 though (wtf?).Since we there there early-ish, there were plenty of benches available, so seating wasn’t a problem, and we had a spot to put our crap. The bar was decent and the general atmosphere was pretty chill. They were even playing a mix of 80s and 90s music, which I love, so that was cool.Strangely, in the dance room, they were showing the winter olympics, and everyone was just standing there watching. It was kinda weird. As the night went on, the bar kept getting more and more crowded. Eventually, a few more friends showed up and couldn’t get in because the bouncer wouldn’t let them in. The lines for the bathroom were so long that they were letting the women into the men’s bathroom while making the guys wait…lame. All in all, the place was decent. Drinks weren’t terribly expensive, but I li
