Where is the Best Lounge in Los Angeles, California?
My experience so far at the Bungalow Club is that I went here with a group of friends at around 9PM on a weeknight. There were 5 of us. We didn’t need a reservation, nor did we have to wait for a table. We were seated immediately on two comfy couches out on the open air back patio. The cabanas were all full, but that worked out better anyway so we could all face each other and talk. The volume of the music was great. Loud enough so you’re not hearing everyone else’s conversations, but not so loud that it drowns out the people at your own table. It’s semi-enclosed with some stained glass which seemed to do a great job of keeping the heat from the heat lamps in, even on a chilly night, without trapping the smoke from the smokers. We were a bunch of girls who were there to catch up on gossip, so for what we were looking for, that was perfect. People may complain about the service not being as fast as it could be, but honestly, we weren’t there to be rushed in and out anyway. We’d all had
Since I’ve been in LA, I’ve gone to mostly clubs and lounge-y type places. Fun, but not a lot of warmth. This place reminds me of home (just outside of Chicago). The Backstage is old-school (in a good way), unpretentious and friendly. The staff is not typical ‘seen it all, done it all’ LA types. They seem like regular people who care about doing their job well and making you feel comfortable. The food is bar food plus. I don’t know exactly where the ‘plus’ comes from, but everything I’ve tried here is better than at other places. The prices are low, the drinks are strong, and the room is very warm and comfortable. Nice mix of people, liking each other and having a good time. I wish the real world could be a little more like this place. There was a birthday party there the other night and the people seemed to be having more fun than a bunch of kids at Chucky Cheese. Pros + Friendly staff and crowd, great food, strong drinks, low pricesCons – Wish I lived a little closer
Not a bad place, but they did screw up our reservation. We had a party of 30 for drinks, and they completely screwed it up, suddenly charging people. They ended up fixing it by refunding our money, giving us a larger reserved section, and comping us a bottle of champagne. Fun place, worth going to and trying it out.Pros + HUGE area, good musicCons – Management
