Where is the Best Live Music Venue in Nashville, Tennessee?
I just went back and… hot DAYUM that place was jumpin!Ronda & Jonda were rockin’ the joint. Everybody… every age, gender, color, social status and preference… was having a fantastic time.I went back the next night for Karaoke and DJ Debra blew me away with her own soulful blues, while every singer who ponied up to the stage gave a really solid performance… you usually have to pay a lot more than $3 to see entertainment like this. So needless to say, the cover was VERY reasonable.The bar was WAY crowded, but the drinks were generous in both size and alcohol content. I had just two of their special cocktails, the “Gray Ghost,” and I was IMPAIRED. ‘Course, I didn’t drive. I sobered up with some very respectable hot wings from the kitchen, and danced it off!I love the Lipstick Lounge! I think the Mercy Lounge is a great, laid back bar. It’s in the old Cannery building, which brings back great memories from 10-20 years ago when it was a hopping venue for some of the best bands around. The Lounge is very large and open, which accomodates smokers and non-smokers. They have pool tables, two bars, a deck, a stage and a few comfortable sofas to hang out on. The owners and staff are great and don’t have the attitude that blemishes so many bars in Nashville. My only suggestion is they replace some of the cheap diner tables/chairs with more sofas. If you like good blues music and a cool atmosphere, this place is the place. The house band, Josh Garrett and The Bottom Line is made up of some super talented musicians who hail from Louisiana – and they flavor their blues show with a little of that Cajun spice. Josh is a showman, and knows how to work the bar into a party-like atmosphere. Matt on the sax is unbelievably good – scary good, and Mark on the trumpet has more energy than a 3 year old hyped up on sugar. The bar itself is intimate, not so full of tourists, and really reminds me of a place you’d see in the French Quarter in New Orleans. The staff is friendly and sometimes very busy – especially on a crowded Saturday. As far as the food goes, we’ve had the fries and the wings and both were good and we didn’t wait long at all. Come for the show. I’d suggest a Thursday or Friday night. If you like good blues and a dash of zydeco, go see Josh Garrett & The Bottom Line at Bourbon Street Boogie & Blues Bar!! You will not
I recently relocated to Nashville, and was referred to Level 88 by a co-worker for their happy hour. I did my research and read reviews and it seemed that the census across the board was that the owner is a JACKA$$. However after patronizing the club a couple of times myself I found this to be an understatement, though the food was AWESOME and the music was GREAT the owner however is an A$$! (drop the Jack) He is rude and does not know how to treat his customers. I hope that enough people will contiue to write reviews and warn people of this mans sour attutude and pi$$ poor demeanor; maybe he will take some sort of Management 101 course and improve. I would write a review on thier website, but the account has been suspended due to NON-PAYMENT! What a sorry excuse for a businessman. He should stop walking around the club like he is the MAN and handle his business…..MAN!Pros + Food and MusicCons – THE OWNER!!!
This place pioneered “unplugged”. Garth played off a bar stool here. Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Alex Harvey, Joe Ely, Townes Van Zandt and any other contemporary songwriter worth listening to has played this little room. Want to listen to the songwriter that wrote the megahit play his or her own original version? Want to watch the best writers and pickers in town play in a listening room, a venue where you can actually hear the fret work? If you can’t come here to listen to the magic in front of you without disturbing the perfomances, you probably don’t need to come. In fact, pretend you never heard about this little jewel of the music world so you won’t spoil it for the rest of us.
