Where is the Best Late-Night Dining in New York, New York?
I?ll start with the fact that the decor and location are fantastic ? for a romantic evening, you really can?t ask for much more ? West Village charm & beautiful interior ?farm house? textures of wood, leather and earth toned surfaces. The tables are snug and fit together closely ? but there seems to be enough cushioning around to absorb the majority of the noise you?d expect from such tight confines. Next, relax and order from the tasting menu. You could select from the main dishes ? but the multi-course tastings offer a full range, starting with a selection of appetizers and ending with dessert. I hadn?t been here before and decided to let the waiter suggest a wine from the pre-recession priced list that would complement both fish and meat ? set parings are not an option. We went with a very nice ? and flexible ? Oregan Pinot Noir (albeit still pricy at $60 ? and on the low end of the list). The down note here is that the most memorable part of the meal was the very lovely foodi
Went back to Blue Ribbon for my 2nd time on Friday night… my group (5 people… they don’t take reservations unless you’re 5 or more) had a 1am reservation so we could make a night out of it. We brought 5 bottles of good wine with us and paid the corking fee ($25/each… a BIT high for me but, still cheaper than buying 5 bottles)… the wait staff could not have been any better. We tasted the wines throughout the night with out waiter(s) and we even decanted one bottle. Started with a massive 3-tier raw bar platter loaded with pretty much everything, including some of the special oysters (DELICIOUS) and crawfish (also a special). Afterwards, we just had to order more oysters (12 more) and crawfish (another pound). The raw bar here is simply delicious. I ate a hangar steak for my entree… as before it was phenomenal and happened to go very well with the bottle of wine we were drinking at the time. We had a banana split for dessert and I had a glass of port to finish up the nig
~~Super busy, nice place to hang out, too overprice, great lasagna.~~I went there to have my valentine dinner and made reservation couple weeks before. Got worse table even I did request outside winter garden table… My table was very noisy… because next to waiter station. The overall food is ok, not too bad, not great as I expect. $ 45/ person, I expected more than that. Must try their lasagna and coffee, great cappucino….. Friendly hostess (maybe the owner) which always make smile us. Waiting line for restroom. The service ?, the server Sebastian always smile, introduce some wine, even we reject it. Please remember, it is caffe, don’t expect star restaurant service even with that price. He did not rush us, did not forget to fill up our water, comfort us with his personal touch. If you have extra money ?, come over… again, don’t expect more than a “overprice” caffetaria. Don’t make it for your first date or first important place, try One if by the land, two if by the sea… i
I have never really felt the need to write a review before. I think it’s sad that just getting good service warrants a review but I have to write about this. I went to Blackstones on a Monday night expecting it to be on the slower side but there was a decent crowd. The cocktail server was great and seemed way too happy. When we asked her why she said she had no reason to be unhappy. Then the reason came or at least my boyfriend and I thought so. We watched a very snotty couple sit down next to us, nothing was right with them from the start but the server just kept smiling and being polite. I almost said something to the couple but my boyfriend gave me that look that meant stay out of it. We ate our hamburgers and my boyfriend stared at the TV over my head, very annoying but had a pleasant time anyway. The food was good (the english muffing bun was odd but we really liked it) but what most impressed us again was the service. We never needed anything and when my boyfriend went to the bar
I’ve eaten here once during normal dinner hours with no problem, but my experience this past weekend was among my worst dining experiences in the city. The wait staff seems to make use of the fixed tip after 1AM. I do not know if our waitress was trying to add some authenticity to our French dining experience (actually, I think she was Russian), but she promptly snatched the menus from each of our grasps upon ordering and she essentially ordered one of my friends, who was still deciding, to hurry up. The place was busy, but it was still uncalled for. Among other minor acts of rudeness, the management does not appear to care who they let in. A girl at a neighboring table was hanging on to her boyfriend for dear life and was in and out of consciousness. Imagine my lack of surprise when she threw up on the floor next to us. If your concern is mostly the food, I can honestly say that it is no more than mediocre. The pate left much to be desired and my croque monsieur had an odd aft
