We went to have brunch at 3pm on a Saturday. The restaurant was somewhat busy, but not overly crowded. Still, the waiters all had a very rushed vibe. The host asked our party number and sat us, but was less than friendly. Our waiter made up for it though. He was friendly even though he too felt really rushed. It’s like they needed more servers or something– like the ones they had couldn’t handle the rush and still maintian a relaxed atmosphere. The food was good. My friend had a grilled chicken and mozarella sandwich and loved her french fries. The sandwich was tasty and had a little kick to it. Their coffee was great (they add cinnamon– I asked the waiter why it was so good). I had fruit, granola and low fat yogurt. A really small portion for nearly 8 dollars. Overall, it was decent, and their menu had a good selection, but there are other places that I would go first because of the rushed atmosphere and prices, in relation to other diners nearby…Pros + Menu, CoffeeCons – On

I’ve been here several times for brunch, and also to the game room downstairs, where I had some of the bar food. THe brunch has always been average to above average. The food is pretty good, the portions aren’t huge, but that’s a plus, bc I always feel satisfied but not stuffed. The omlettes tend to be a bit greasy. The little muffins they serve are sooo good. Service can be a bit slow. The outside deck is very nice, too. The gameroom downstairs is fun, although it feels like you’re in someone’s stuffy little basement, and since the kitchen is down there, it gets a little cramped with all the staff running in and out with hot plates. The chicken fingers and calamari were very good, as are the drinks. Overall, I’m glad I live nearby and will contiue coming here for brunch, and for drinks and a game of pool.Pros + little muffins, location, gamesCons – average brunch, service little slow, gets cramped

Wasn’t please with the food, have had better, and for cheaper. And I wasn’t pleased with the extremely slow service. It took me and my friend an hour and 15 minutes just to eat a shared sandwich and salad. Besides that, I loved the atmosphere, the location and the waitress, when she got to us, was friendly and knowledgeable of the food.Pros + Wonderful atmosphere, great drinks, incredible coffeeCons – Slooooow service, bad sandwich, sloooow service

I was pleasantly surprised by Uptown Lounge. I’ve been dating a girl who lives on the UES for a few months, so I’ve been spending lots of time up there lately and trying a bunch of the bars/restaurants. Most of the places we’ve gone so far are either dive bar with kids that just graduated college yesterday, or stuck-up, old UES people. Uptown was different. It was a good mix of younger and older people, it was nice but not stuffy, people weren’t spilling drinks on us like the bars on 2nd Ave, and the food was actually really good. We sat at the bar for a while and the bartender was great – he made great drinks and was cordial and quick. We ate at the bar as well, and I was impressed with the food. We split an appetizer, and a chicken dish with mushrooms and tomatoes and artichokes that was great. The only downside I found of the place was getting in – there are so many doors on the building front that it was kind of hard to find our way in. Once we did, I was glad we made it.Pros +
