Where is the Best Late-Night Dining in Dallas, Texas?
When looking for a tasty cold treat on a typical Texas summer day or night, I usually find myself at a Cold Stone Creamery or Marble Slab. That was untill my frind took me up to Sheridan’s Frozen Custard in Frisco. I was skeptical about there only being two flavors (chocolate and vanilla), but when presented with a huge array of sweet flavors and toppings that are mixed in, I was sold! The Staff seemed very informed about the custard making process and explained that frozen custard is made slightly warmer than icecream, thus making the flavor stand out better and easing the cold pains on my teeth. Sheridan’s was really busy when I went up there on a Saturday night, but I was impressed with promptness of the staff with getting my treat out to me.The decor was a nice touch, harkening back to the 1950’s soda/icecream shop style which give a sense of cleanliness with all the white panels and uniforms. This restaurant is outstanding! A few friends and I visited Dallas for my birthday weekend, and we went to McKinney Ave. to see what we could find for a decent place to dine. Avanti was the place that jumped out the most to us, especially since we could hear that there was live music playing. The decor and the ambiance of the restaurant was perfect: plenty of places to sit, beautiful candlelight, amazing music, etc. We were seated on the patio, which I would recommend to anyone planning on dining there. It was great being able to look out the windows onto the street, and at the same time it was intimate enough for us to still hear the music but also carry on conversations with one another. The food exceeded all of our expectations. The vegetarian spinach lasagna was out of this world, and the wine that was recommended to us was a brilliant complement to the wonderful food. I met a date at Steel a couple of weeks ago, at her recommendation. It was my first visit and I was impressed. The restaurants decor is upscale and beautiful. I ordered the Shaken Beef, she had the Lemongrass Chicken and we shared an appetizer of the Sea Bass. All three were excellent, however I have to say that my Shaken Beef was the best of the three. The dinner and drink menu is a bit pricey, so factor that into your plans. I understand they have free shushi every Wednesday starting at 5:30. Also, their iced tea was the best I’ve ever had. This is a tavern but with white table cloths and a classy atmosphere. Kind of a Houstons type restaraunt with a little more style. Good place before heading to AA Center or the House of Bluse. We had a party of 10 on Saturday night and everyone was very pleased with the food , atmosphere and service. It was a slow night with nothing going on at the AA Center so we had lots of attention from the staff. . Our table was ready when we asked and the waiter was very attentive and eager to make sure our experience was great. The menu offers a great selection from sandwiches to prime rib. The wine list is large but suprising for a tavern the beer list is somewhat small. We ordered each of the apps and all were good. I would pass on the chips with feta cheese , not much to them other than greesy chips. The calamari and quesadillas were great though. I had the baby back ribs and they were incredible.
