Where is the Best Late-Night Dining in Austin, Texas?
We went for dinner and then went back for breakfast. At dinner time hubby got really good roast pork, it was actually delicious, however my bison burger was dry, small and tasteless. The home fries had a weird taste for me.Hoping breakfast would be much better we returned the next day. The pancakes were awesome but my omelette was pretty unflavorful. I had the Popeye. I guess I didn’t expect as many onions. If you order anything with red onions, be prepare for a LOT! Service was just ok too… our waiter was obviously just too cool for the place and looked like he’d rather be anywhere else than there.Overall a disappointmentPros + fun atmosphereCons – food just average
Went here on a Sunday for brunch—was seated right away, service was good. What I thought was amazing though, was that I was halfway through my meal (and loving every part of it) when my date mentioned that it was a vegetarian restaurant!! I am a total meat eater, and there I was, chomping away at tofu and not even realizing it! Now THAT’s good-cookin’-vegetarian!!Pros + Great food, cute atmophereCons – none really. The food is all good!
There are lots of interesting, delicious sounding items on the Bakehouse’s menu. I loved the decor. However, the overall effect of the food was bland and lacking. My wife’s bratwurst was great, but all of the side dishes, including the warm potato salad (which was described as “heaven” by our server) were acceptable, not memorable.I had a chicken florentine, stuffed with spinach and cheese. Very little flavor.I’ve had truly bad meals, and this was not one of them. There were many good sounding items on the menu. I wouldn’t drive far to give it a second chance.Pros + decor was great, brats were tastyCons – flavor of everything else.
I’ve been here for HH many times but never on a Friday and we never have sat at the bar until this Saturday. My girlfriend and I had dinner here this past Sat. before we went out for the evening and our experience was a “first class, five star” service. The really funny thing were the two bartenders making us laugh because they were joking with one of the guest about not getting them two confuse, one has hair and one doesn’t. The “no hair” guy greeted us and took our order. He went as far as placing napkins down for us. He just didn’t take our order and ran off to make drinks. He made sure we were comfortable and satisfied before he moved on. My comment was, “Wow! VIP treatment”! We both agreed! Both of them checked on us and “no hair” made us an “Asian Love” martini. That was the best drink I ever had made with champagne. As we were sitting there, one thing we both notice was that everyone comes over to this guy and he treats everyone of them with the same courtesy. We’ve b
I suppose I was expecting something spectacular in dining at Kerbey Lane for the very first time. While I lived in and visit Austin regularly, I never made it ’til this past Monday. We were seated quick enough, but, of course, we got there at about 1130pm, so I wasn’t too worried. Our server was nice enough, as servers go, too, but she wasn’t all that attentive. I had the migas, which, while they looked a little questionable, ended up being pretty solid. The place is super loud, though, even at 1130 or 12 at night, the crosses hanging everywhere are slightly unnerving, and the wait staff seems a little, well… untrained, maybe. As I stated, the waitress was nice, but she only came for a drink order, food order, and someone else delivered our food. Getting a refill was out of the question, and hot sauce for my migas wasn’t happening either.I’d probably go back if someone else was heading there, but it CERTAINLY doesn’t live up to its hype.Pros + Migas with black beans, I guess?
