Where is the Best Karaoke in Los Angeles, California?
The bar is a Westside legend and the staff is cool. “Open at 6:00 a.m.”! At the same time, if you’re looking to sing go anywhere else for Karaoke. The KJ is the absolute worst in West LA. She not only bumps anyone else when her friends show up, but she also mics her buddies up while she drops the levels for everyone else to barely audible. It is a total Karaoke embarassment. There’s just too many good Karaokes around Santa Monica to allow yourself to be treated as poorly as the Gaslight’s KJ treats anyone who doesn’t make her “friend” list.Pros + Great Parking, Great BartendersCons – Awful Karaoke
I discovered La Defence while searching for lunch spots on Citysearch. My co-worker and I walked down the street to give it a try- what a surprise and treat! Upon entering, I was amazed at the decor. The restaurant has outstanding ambiance and we felt like we were dining in a quaint Frech village. We had the lunch sampler of various sushi and the meal and service were excellent. Also, we took a business card as the restaurant has set a nice banquet/meeting room for offsite meetings. La Defence will now be in my lunch spot circut. Thank you La Defence and Citysearch!
Was there in the karaoke room on a recent friday night, there were several birthdays (all cute 20 and 30-something girls) and people were in a great mood, having fun, drinking, dancing and of course singing, but you think a fairly popular karaoke spot would have a better sound system. I’m not expecting top notch, but they should at least get a mic + speakers with some low end. The vocals were so harsh and piercing and LOUD (and backing music not loud enough to drown some of that out) that I had to keep stepping outside to give my ears a rest. Besides that, and the fact that the crowd tends to be filled with actor-y types (but for some, that may be a draw I guess), and that they don’t carry any Iggy Pop tunes +only ONE Journey song, a good loud time can be had at Amagi!Pros + drink prices, friendly regulars, fun atmosphereCons – bad mic sound, song selection, actor-y types (?)
the first time i ate here with some friends, the entire staff was very condescending, rude and unwelcoming. could it be because of the way we dressed, look, or perhaps our race, and not looking like one of them. but on the upside, the deep fried calamari was decent, but i’ve had better. the food took forever, the service was truly horrid, and it wasn’t even busy. i wanted a good night out with some friends, but turned out to be a terrible time at the restaurant. it seemed like all the staff were stuck up. so that was my first experience at this restaurant, so i went again with several friends, recently, hoping that the first visit was just an isolated incident, but boy, was i wrong! we left after the server came to us 15-20 minutes after we were seated. i’ve been in customer service for many years and this place is absurd. what is it with this place? so, i made a decision not to ever come back here ever again. Pros + noneCons – every aspects of the restaurant
