Where is the Best Karaoke in Houston, Texas?
I was dragged here by some coworkers. I wanted to go to our usual haunt, Mike’s Place. I had only heard this was a dive. When you first walk in you are not sure what to expect. The decor is as eclectic as the patrons. I have truly never seen a bar so diverse. The staff was a blast. We had so much fun! The prices were fair. Beer was a little high, (average, $3?) but the shots were a lot cheaper than what we were used to. $5 jager blasters anytime. The girls from our office danced on the bar and even the stuffiest girl was having a blast and loosened up. The bar staff was engaging. They seemed genuinely interested in us and having us back. My husband COOGS and I have been regulars here for a couple of years now, coming 2-3 times per week to play NTN/Buzztime trivia with our friends. Mezz offers an all-around great experience, from the attentive staff to the food (the Mezzy burger is a world unto itself, while COOGS swears by the nachos) to the ambience (lots of things to do even for the non-trivia player, including pool, karoaoke, Golden Tee, and and Texas Hold ‘Em). The Mezzanine rightfully won the Houston Press “Reader’s Choice” award this year for best drink specials, from its $2.50 U-Call-It Tuesdays to the Fiesta Fridays where both Dos Equis and margaritas come in also at $2.50.Owners Tonya and Tommy put a lot of energy into coming up with even more ways for people to have fun, from the monthly theme party to the new Wednesday movie night on the patio with free popcorn. Plus this is “the” place to celebrate a birthday–as we both will be doing this week: the enormous “Gullywasher” for the birthday person, plus fre
