Where is the Best Italian Food in Providence, Rhode Island?
I had the same waiter both times I’ve dined here (6 mths apart). It’s kind of comforting, b/c if the waitstaff is happy, then your dining experience is better. Mediterraneo serves the best mashed potatoes ever to grace my palate. I would recommend the antipasto for 2. Great service & attention to detail. On my second trip, we were served complimentary Limoncellos.Pros + valet parking, great service
In downtown Providence for Waterfire, we trudged up to the Italian restaurant distrit of Federal Hill without a clue as to where to have dinner. In a small park at the entrance to the district we encountered four ladies of a certain age who could have been there since the mid-sixties. “Where to eat?” we asked. Cheap, authentic, good service. “Angelo’s” they answered in a chorus. It’s truly like eating in your grandmother’s kitchen, if her kitchen seated about 50 and had a miniature train running on a track just below the ceiling the perimeters of the room. In the same family for three generations, it’s pretty standard home-style Italian-American specialities. Meatballs and french frieds anyone? But the just better than mediocre food is more than balanced by the price-value relationship and the cordiality of the staff and other customers.Pros + Bang for buck, Friendly service, Family atmosphereCons – Really bright lights, Screaming kids, No credit cards
