Where is the Best Italian Food in Memphis, Tennessee?
Ciao Bella, The atmosphere is that of a small town upper end cafe. The music immediately puts you in the Italian mood with Como, Bennett, Sinatra and the likes. The lighting is soft not dark. The Italian wines and beers that are offered again keep you in the mood. I have taste about everything on the menu and have had nothing I wouldn’t recommend, But being a spicy person the pasta with the spicy Italian sausage is my favorite for a full meal. If I’m in a casual mood then I share the Picata pizza and get the Italian salad for two.The atomsphere is so relaxing that I leave in as mellow a mood as posible. My husband and I ate here in 2007 after hearing from others that it was very good. We ordered the calamari appetizer which was good, although not memorable. I ordered lasagna, and my husband ordered veal. My lasagna was the worst I have ever had, and the most expensive. It was bland, with mushy pasta, and not enough meat, but too much cheese. My husband’s veal was passable. We decided to skip dessert. We have never gone back. This is not an inexpensive restaurant, so I was rather disappointed by the quality. I’ve been to chains that did better. Pros + Service and ambience was pleasant. Cons – Food was not worth the price.
The service in the bar is always the best but the food is only fair. I’ve learned to stick with the chicken caesar salad and garlic bread. They are well known for the bbq pizza but I have had much better at other Memphis restaurants. Good for a group of people to get together for a light snack but I would not recommend taking everyone to eat.
Atmosphere great although a little noisy. The salmon pietro was scrumptious, and brought leftovers home for next day…..still good. Service excellent, but it did seem it was forever before our dessert was served. As we were sitting next to the kitchen door, someone in our party opened the door to remind them we were waiting. No problem; plus the dessert was worth the wait. Can’t remember the name, but was something caramel with sort of a bananas foster-like sauce….yummy. Our family is looking forward to a gathering there for our daughter and fiance’s rehearsal dinner in May. All in all a good experience.
