The reservation person told me they were serving a party of 70 that evening, and I guess she was trying to warn me, but she assured us she could accommodate us. My party of 6 arrived promptly for our 7:00 p.m. reservation. Forty minutes later we were finally seated, after a stressed-out hostess told us there wasn’t anything she could do to get us seated. We were really put out, but they tried to make it up to us with three free appetizers. The tortellini and calamari were very good, but the bruschetta was soggy and tomatoes weren’t ripe. Our waiter was very personable, tried hard to attend to our needs, but the entire waitstaff were sweating with the exertion of trying to serve what was obviously an over-booked night. After the appetizers, we were hopeful that our meals would arrive promptly, but it was not to be so. From the time we were seated it was another hour and 20 minutes till we finally received our entrees. The loft where we sat was too warm, and when we asked for t

They seated us in a remote area even though there were plenty of seats where other custimers were–this is not necessarily a bad thing.4. Utica Greens appetizer was great–I am glad I asked to not have the garlic–not the soupy beans and greens I expected, but very good!5. Clam chowder could have been eaten with a fork6. I wish they gave us water–heck, I don’t care if they charge for it–I just hate to have to ask for it.9. When I see food prepared with so much garlic I always figure that the person does not know anything about the phrase ‘hint of g

I ate at Cafe Capriccio in October 2003 while visiting Albany on a business trip. The fall menu was a Tuscan menu. I have been to Tuscany and ate at the best restaurants every night. Cafe Capriccio was as good as those restaurants in Siena and Florence. First, the bread. Freshly baked, light and flavorful. I had a savory ravioli appetizer with a light cream sauce, unlike anything I have had before. Wonderful. At many restaurants I find the appetizer is so good that it makes the entree a disappointment, but not here. I ordered a fish (can’t even remember the name…I had never heard of it) with delicate green beans, a polenta side, with a tomato ragout. The presentation of the dish was stunning. I wish I had a camera. The arrangement of the food on the plate, with all the bright colors, was a work of art, down to the orchid flower for garnish. Classy, not showy or frilly. The fish was truly one of the tastiest and most tender I have ever had. Lightly seared on the outs
