Where is the Best Irish Pub in San Francisco, California?
I would only recommend this place if you are looking to get harassed and physically asulted by the bar man simply for your race. This was one of the most disgusting encounters I have ever had in San Fransisco! My boyfriend (who is English and visiting from England) was harassed by the Irish bar man for the history between the Irish and English…blamed for all past wrong doings of England and then physically grabbed by four bouncers, choked and thrown out of an emergency exit -where he continued to be assaulted by the staff. His arms are both bruised and he has finger prints on his neck from being choked. I strongly DO NOT recommend this place to anyone looking to dance and have a friendly, peaceful night out! English beware!!!!!Pros + you can dance in a crouded roomCons – you could be harrased by the staff simply because they want to
I love this place! My girlffriends and I have stopped into Kelley’s on more than one occasion to meet with friends and have always found the staff more than accommodating, helpful and probably the most friendly of any bar in the Marina. If Cheer’s were set in this city, they would film it here! We met my brother’s crew there for the Final Four games last weekend and loved how cool the crowd was.Get’s crowded on the weekends, but that’s what I like. You feel like you know everyone there after a couple of visits. And the leather sofas in the back by the fireplace are the perfect setting for people watching and taking it easy. A great looking crowd who appear to have a fun time, tasty cocktails, fun (hot!) bartenders, and no sloppy drunks makes it my prime spot. This place is exactly what the area needed.Pros + comfy interior, fun crowd, great drinksCons – gets busy
The Plough has great traditional music duiring the week and have other offerings on the weekends. I prefer the traditional music throughout the week. The review talking about no happy hour must not be from around here. The Plough is a place you go to drink and listen to good music, not a place to go for happy hour. Pros + Great Celtic musice duiring the week
Foley’s Irish House is a warm place to have lunch (bowl of soup, brown bread and pint of Guinness). A week ago wife was attending a conference, I was wandering about taking in the sights. I had the above lunch twice during the week and stopped in for a pint around 4pm daily. I found the bar service friendly and willing to chat if not busy. The bar was generally half filled at that time of day. First night in town we had the “cottage (shepherds) pie.” The flavor was fine but found it a bit heavy on the spuds. The soups were flavorful, hearty and of ample portion. Foley’s offers an extensive selection of draught beer and ale.I would certainly stop in again.Pros + great slection of draught refreshmentCons – did not hear an Irish accent
