Where is the Best Irish Pub in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania?
My wife and I were looking for a place to have something to eat before going to the theater. We didn’t have much money so Walnut St near the theater was out. I happened to get an on street parking spot on Samson St across from Fergie’s Pub so we tried it and we were not disappointed. NO TV!!! You can hear yourself talk. The music they were playing was great. The food was very good and the waitress was very personable and friendly. We will definitely return there if we go to the theater again. Highly recommended!!!Pros + NO TV, good food for not much moneyCons – Small, not many tables
The food is awesome for very reasonable prices. The folks from New Deck Tavern have built a beautiful Irish restaurant/pub which you will want to go back to time and time again. Tons of beers on tap and bottle. Kildares is a damn joke compared to this place in every aspect.Pros + Awesome food, cheap, many beers/cocktails, awesome decor, plenty of street parking (bring quarters)Cons – Nothing
My group really had a poor experience here. We were visiting Philly from the midwest and were referred to this place for cheap drinks and a good crowd. When we (group of 6) arrived, three sat down in a booth, while three went to get drinks. The waitress promptly went up to the people at the table and said, “If you aren’t going to drink, you can’t sit here.” Slightly upsetting, since we had literally just arrived. So our group vacated the table to stand next to the bar. We all ordered drinks, and then the waitress was upset because we were in the space that she uses, and they kicked four of us out of the bar. No warnings, no asking to move, just snatching our beers and making us leave. I and another of our party were at the bar, drinking the two beers we just ordered, while this was occuring. After our friends left, the waitress went up to the bartender and said, “Watch these two, they were with all those others, and probably should be kicked out.” I said, “what are you talking about.”
After visiting all three Kildare’s, I am pleased to say that we finally have an AUTHENTIC IRISH PUB COMPANY in Philadelphia! The menu is straight from Ireland and the newest addition, The Fresh Catch is awesome! The beer selection is second to none and $4.00 Guinness for Happy Hour? Who does that? I can’t wait for the new locations in Media and Headhouse Square to open this fall.Pros + Inexpensive, Live Music, Good Craic
