Where is the Best Irish Pub in New York, New York?
I started going to Maggie`s Place on corporate lunches. They have a really interesting menu. Lots of great tasting Irish “pub grub” but also a fantastic array of other things. The everything crusted tuna steak is to die for. It comes with black sticky rice and veggies in a soy ginger glaze. I`ve also had most of their salads and pasta options. The guys swear by their burgers. Service is always very efficient and friendly. Most are Irish and Scottish and couldn`t treat a group any better. The wait staff know their menus inside out and can always make great recommendations. Different daily specials always add extra choices. Sincerety and authenticity oozes from this friendly and laid-back pub. Step inside and you’ll feel like you’re living in a Shane MacGowan song. This place is home to some of the most interesting and friendly people in the city, and a venue for some outstanding Irish, folk, blues, and bluegrass performers.Try to catch Random Folk (Tuesdays), the Prodigals (Fridays), Aprille Goodman (Sundays), and the Mickey Finns whenever they’re playing. I had the best time at this Irish Bar and restaurant with a group of people I brought for drinks. We ate authentic delicious irish cuisine served by the most friendliest and (very good looking staff I must say) who gave us really great service for how busy it was. We ended up staying all night having a great time. We met the owner who was so nice to introduce herself to us and actually sat with us for a little while asking us were we were from. I recommend dining outside to people watch. The music and the bartenders (3 words HOT HOT HOT!) were awesome and the bar decor itself really well put together with imported Irish moldings, pictures and decor. You can tell the owners know what they had in mind and instore for their patrons. When you go to a bar that has everything like this does you know they did it right. I had a birthday party for 2 people one night (March 27 and our table had @12 people. We reserved one for 10 because we weren’t sure who would show up or cancel. When we got there, the hostess upstairs told us that 8 people had to show up. Then, when we were told to go to our table downstairs, the hostess downstairs questioned us because we were suppose to have 9 people. She was the real rude one.Once all that was settled, the hostess kept telling us that more chairs could not be added until the additoinal people showed up. This was not explained in a nice manner but in a condescending way. Rude. Everyone thought these people were all rude. Fortunately, our server was fine and she did a good job getting to everyone their food and drinks.I actually really like this place because when I go to the bar with my coworkers after work, they are great.
