Where is the Best Irish Pub in Dallas, Texas?
For the longest time it seemed like Sherlocks was the only option in the area. It is a good bar all around. Nothing really special about it, but they do have good crowds and decent live music at times. It has a little character to it and I like it more than some of the restaurant bars in the area or the other choice which is a few bars that just seem to be trying too hard.Pros + Good feelCons – average service but hey it is bar service
Planned to meet friends after the Thanksgiving dinner. They called from the pub to say the were leaving. The wife drove so she had her driver’s license but hubby didn’t have his so they would not serve him a drink. Now this is a 45 year-old woman with her husband that is 66! Guarantee you there was NO doubt in anyone’s mind that is was way over the legal age. They drove to Denton for a drink and we did not even think of trying McCarty’s after that. So, unless they bring in an Irish band we like no thanks.
I have to say that the most refreshing thing about this pub is that it’s not filled with smoke. We went on a Wednesday night and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The crowd was a nice mix of older and younger people. The place has a very warm feeling, largely because of the heavy use of wood in the decor. Very cozy. The beer list is incredible, though a bit pricey. We had the queso and the fish and chips. The fish was excellent with a batter that didn’t act as a sponge for the oil it was fried in. Nice and crisp with good fries. The queso was very “white bread”, if you’ll excuse the expression. It was plain but good with lots of little chopped tomato mixed in. I loved the idea of the flight of three 6 oz draft beers for less than $6.00. But, I was so full after the meal that I couldn’t manage it. There are no happy hour specials. And it’s not a quiet place by any means. In fact, the first time I tried to visit I turned around and walked out because a World Cup game was on t
Had a few pints today and thought I put in my two cents. In amist of overly trendy (over priced) bars this is the real deal.Great drinks, reasonable prices and a cozy pub feel.I hate to give a good review because I don’t want this little gem to become the Dubliner. If you know the feel of a cozy pub this is the place..Pros + Great pub feelCons – ????
