Where is the Best Irish Pub in Austin, Texas?
This authentic Irish bar is all about the beverages. No food to get in the way of a relaxing good time. A recent renovation has moved the front wall back a bit to create a lovely, covered front patio for people watchers and smokers alike. There is a nice HDTV for watching the games, but the music stays on most of the time…. even when we’re watching sports. Plenty of eateries close by so you can get your grub on and still be in the neighborhood. This bar is my home away from home. I come here for happy hour. I come here for Friday nights. I come to celebrate the good things and drown my sorrows after the bad.Come on down for good beer, mixed drinks, icy ciders and hot Irish coffees. Pros + Adults only, just drinks, The Big HCons – They won’t let me move in
on occasion, i’d venture into this place and set up shop to drink and stare out the window. then on one of these occasions i met the owner and we chatted a bit. then i chatted w/the bar staff.all were friendly and great company!now when i go in there, i feel very welcomed and i must say that this is the only bar where i have no problem staying there the whole evening… usually i like to barhop!yeah this happens at other bars too i’m sure but i must give props to my fave bar in austin 🙂 Pros + great service, good drinks, nice atmosphere :)Cons – parking, but hey it’s 6th street…
I was in town for the Austin City Limits Festival. We were wandering downtown, and saw Fado’s and decided to give it a shot. It was ok, but I don’t think I would recommend it. I tried to order 3 different Irish beers, and each one got a blank starte from the waiter. We had to ask a few time for our water, and our water felt the need to tell us about how he was supposed to be at the ACL Festival, but had to work. The food was pretty good. Our napkins were damp from not being fully dried, and, while we were wating for our tab, we looked arounf and noticed how dirty the place was. But, the layout of the bar was cool, and it seemed like if there was a bit more effort put into the palce, it could be a rockin place to hang out, day or night.Pros + good locationCons – staff seems to not really care
