Where is the Best Impromptu Date Spot in New York, New York?

This weekend I threw my friend a bachelorette party and we decided to have dinner at Employees Only. I was allowed to decorate the table (with inappropriately shaped confetti, natch) and the servers kept coming up to the table and admiring the gifts. They seemed as excited about the party as we were! They were kind and accommodating throughout the meal. Speaking of the meal, it was delicious, and complemented well by the yummy cocktails. They were a bit pricy, I’m not going to lie, and we all ended up spending more than we wanted to, but I think it was worth it for the special time we had. I almost forgot, they have a psychic who does palm and tarot readings… she was so, so, but it was a fun treat anyway. Great spot for bachelorette parties!Pros + Friendly staff, yummy food and drink, atmosphereCons – Pricy, so so psychic

I just had my birthday party at Flute the other day, and I have to say that me and my friends had such a great time! (coming from me it means a lot as I go out every week at least once?) It started out with the most original and delicious cocktails I had have in a long time (try the Mojito Rouge which has a little champagne in it, it is to die for). Then we moved to Champagne, they have the widest selection you will ever get to see, it was hard to pick, but the staff was very helpful in explaining to us the different nuances of each kind. We really had a good service; our waiter was ADORABLE and very accommodating. And the music was a perfect compliment to the lounge experience, we stay there for more than 4 hours and it felt like one! I never post comments about my dining/bar experiences but, as you got it, I had such a great time I had to post one.I have now one more stop to add on my list of best things NYC has to offer.Pros + Cocktails and of course champagne selectionCons

If you want to escape New York City and “feel” like you’re at a tiki bar on a warm island in the Carribean, I strongly recommend Tropical 128. I went here this passed week-end and I was pleasantly surprised at how different the decor was … in a good way. It almost felt like I was in a rainforest. 🙂 The place wasn’t crowded when we arrived but I’m assuming that’s because it was only about 7 pm on a Saturday night. However, it was a great experience. I had the “Coconut Mania” drink and it was delicious and the bartender/waitress was very attentive and pleasant. We had a nice time. Oh, for those of you who like to shoot pool, they also have pool tables in the back. 🙂

Great bar, amazing burgers, great atmosphere, great beer selection. However, everyone I have been with is unanimous that the stamp system (were you are id’ed at the door and get a stamp but then must reveal the requisite number of stamped patrons for each alcoholic beverage purchased EVERYTIME throughout the night) must go. It is lame, it is underage dance party stuff. I can go around the corner to another bar and be treated like an adult – get a new system or become regarded as the training wheels bar. It would be a shame, all the other ingredients are there.Pros + Great food and beerCons – Army style enforcement of stamps

I ate here in the winter w/my cousin. Food was good. Seating is a problem. The place is small and seating is wherever they can put a table. Even if it’s right in the walkway to the bathroom/bar. It’s electically decorated and very dim inside. I didn’t find the food very French, more American. However, the food was very tastey and the wine was good. Also, I had the best coffee here. It’s best dining for two people, but doable for small groups of 4 people max. If you’re looking for good food and very little comfort ambiance, this is a good place.Pros + Good FoodCons – Uncomfortable Seating
