When I happened upon Shady Glen yesterday I thought “How is it possible to have lived in CT the past 35 years and never heard of this wonderful place! Shady Glen is a great throwback to the 50’s – when life was simpler. Each male employer was wearing a Shady Glen hat, and every female a forest green dress! The menu is on the wall and the place is bustling. Customers are friendly. I asked the man next to me for a recommendation and he didn’t hesitate to recommend the cheeseburger! One day, my husband & I decided to try this location and have been hooked ever since. I would say that we go here for ice cream at least twice a week (all year round!) and have NEVER been disappointed. The ice cream and toppings are fresh and always tasty – the cones are never stale. My husband loves the brazier burgers and the fries are yummy , too. It’s almost like being on vacation. They have a convenient drive through and plenty of parking. As if this wasn’t enough – when you go in, you just might be greeted by the famous “D.Q. Dave” himself – the hardest working owner in ice cream business! He’s a little serious, but he’s VERY nice. Take it from me – you will be pleasantly s
