Where is the Best Hotel Dining in St. Louis, Missouri?
We stayed in this hotel a few days ago and felt that it was a good value. The hotel room’s size was typical- not too large but not too small either. It was clean and looked like it had recently been renovated. It is situated within Union Station so our room’s view was the food court (would’ve liked it to have been a different view). There is a bagel shop adjacent to the hotel inside Union Station which was really nice in the morning. My only complaint was that when you enter and exit the hotel, you have to go through Union Station which is essentially a mall. It felt a little silly wheeling my suitcase through a mall! However, I can see the perks of having your hotel being inside of a mall during the winter when it’s really cold outside. The hotel is a few blocks away from the Scottrade Center and probably about a dozen blocks away from Union Station.
When the appetizer of barbeque shrimp came out, I knew we were in for an outstanding meal. It was very flavorful, spicy, and cooked to just the right texture, as well as being served with bread that literally just came out of the oven. It was refreshing to eat a meal out cooked by someone who is unafraid to spice it up. The flavors and textures all complimented each other very well. The New York Strip steak ordered by my husband was cooked to the exact right medium-done that he had asked for. My grilled swordfish was just flaky enough to melt in my mouth while still being firm enough to present well on my plate. The flavor was perfectly contrasted by a bed of garlic and cheese spaghetti. All the dishes were very visually attractive and delicious. The price is right in line with what you expect to pay at a 4 star restaurant, and there were no surprises on the bill. All the help seemed very cheerful and our glasses were always filled before we thought about it. There was also a show kit
My review for March 30-April 1, 2010: -Check-in procedure- Piece of cake. -Valet parking-Just park your car in the lot, and they handle the rest… Very painless. $25/day -Elevators-Very cool ambience. They play the music at higher than normal volume levels, and it encourages dancing. We loved it! -Beds- Very comfortable and roomy. -Pillows- Just right. Not too soft, not…
The patio is beautiful and the ambiance inside and out is lovely. The food is “good” but noting to write home about. I recommend going here for drinks and socializing more then dinning. I have had more then one bad experience with the service. I am a very nice customer and a great tipper – but I have had three servers treat me with a very snobby attitude. The first time we went we had a group of about 8 girls. We just wanted some light appetizers as it was late at night and lots of drinks. We were treated very poorly… as if they thought we weren’t spending enough money/ordering enough food/or weren’t going to tip well. WRONG. We spent lots of money and would have tipped great if anyone had EVER been nice to us; we’re no fools, we don’t tip servers that are rude. And the servers changed during our meal and the first AND second server treated us the same way. I went there for a anniversary dinner with just my boyfriend and ordered drinks and app.’s and a meal and had a coupon
