Where is the Best Hotel Dining in Portland, Oregon?

I’ve stayed here five times and every visit has been truly outstanding. The stately property drips 1940’s Hollywood glamour without being fruity or campy. It has a natural regal quality which is wonderful! What I love about Portland is that for a small city, it certainly has a plethora of wonderful accommodations. And as much as I love many of the property, I believe the Hotel Deluxe to be the best.Valet, Housekeeping, and the Front Desk always perform flawless. Aveda products, flat screen with a terrific menu of stations and movies, Chic decor with a sense of humor, and all an homage to Hollywood. The property, like a good movie, transports you to another place and time. The standard rooms can be a bit small, but the suites are not much more and well worth the extra coin!Other positives are the intimate stylish lounge that has superior drinks and a very attractive happy hour. The only take-away for the hotel is the location, which stuck in limbo between downtown and the Nob Hill. I have been here a few times and the food is absolutely good and has always been good!. Everything we had a few days ago was well prepared and of superb quality from the garlic bread to the sauteed spinach to everyones steaks! Nothing frou-frou, and certainly nothing super creative but just good food! The Bananas Foster were a great way to end a very satisfying meal. The service was attentive without being overbearing. The only negative was the faint smell of cigar/cigarette?? smoke which everyone at our table commented on that evening.I will go back in a heartbeat for one of the best steaks in Portland.Pros + FoodCons – Smell of smoke!

We’ve eaten at this restaurant before when it was Portland Steak and Chophouse; now its name is Kincaid’s. It was good the first time, but we had a better meal this time. It’s particularly good for beef meals. Rarely do we eat beef, but this time that’s what we wanted. The colossal prawns have a tatsy batter, and spicy sauce, and are accompanied by celery and the best cole slaw I’ve ever eaten. The deviled eggs with seafood were good. There were three eggs, split into halves, and there were three varieties, thus enabling two persons to share the appetizer more easily. We both had the pea salad which was good. One of us had the prime rip as entree and the other had the ribeye. Both were excellent. The ribeye being more flavorful, but both were tender and perfectly cooked. The service was satisfactory. Better than the Portland average.Pros + good food and plenty of it; good selection of appetizersCons – noisy, several plates dropped and broken; crashing dishes, bellowing c

No more tableside cooking: Used to be five stars now four stars. New chef and no tableside cooking is a big change for us. The food is still very good and John Louie is the best waiter in Portland. I hope they bring back the tableside service. That is a big problem for us.Stu CookPros + best waiter in portland is John LouieCons – no more tableside cooking
