Where is the Best Hookup Spot in New York, New York?
I was there on a Wednesday night. The place was not crowded at all, just a couple groups of people having a great day. Mostly couples. The atmosphere was very relaxed, and it showed in all the people totally letting go and having fun. The bartender was very nice and responded well to me asking her to make anything she wanted. I hate when bartenders give you blank looks when you don’t spell out exactly what you want. This girl was great though! The music they played was good, not too loud or obtrusive. Although I ended up sitting on the comfy couches in the corner which happened to be right underneath a speaker. This was a little annoying but no worse than any other loud bar. The drinks were very good and not too pricey. I heard they had a fireplace, and I thought it was funny to see a working fireplace, only with 3 lit candles resting peacefully in it. I went to the Dark Room thanks to a birthday party and it was great. The bouncers kept out the teeny-boppers, frat-boys and general riff-raff. Albeit a hipster and weird crowd was in the majority, there were no untoward events, the bartenders were courteous and the music was awesome. None of that trendy pop cr@p. I just had my birthday there last weekend. I’m not sure why everyone keeps knocking on the bartenders because they were very sweet and friendly to me!The space is beautiful. The upper deck is a nice twist. The music is loud enough that you can enjoy it, but quiet enough that you can actually hear your friends. I suggest checking it out for a nice chill evening!Pros + nice decor, nice staff, good valueCons – little hard to find
