Where is the Best Hookup Spot in Boston, Massachusetts?
I’ve been to Sonsie maybe three or four times with different people and the food here is always good. It’s of course on the pricier end, but I’d say that almost every meal I’ve had here is worth every penny I paid for it, which for me is unusual. The service is usually pretty good and waitstaff are nice. With that said, the place does have a somewhat pretentious air about it, and many of the patrons seem rather snooty. The cafe area at the front of the restaurant feels somewhat cramped with tables being very small and a little too close to one another. I’ll have to try seating in the back sometime. All that said and done though, kudos to the chef, Bill Poirier. The food alone I give 5 stars. He knows how to take what seems to be the most random of flavors and ingredients and turn it into something incredible. It’s very obvious he cares a lot about each dish that leaves the kitchen and the satisfaction of every customer. Will definitely be eating here again. Pros + Food is worth ever
Went to Lucky’s Lounge for the first time Monday night with one of my girlfriends. I live in Southie and they’re definitely getting a new regular in me. I had the steak tips and they were absolutely delicious, by far the best I’ve had in a while. The waitress was charming and took quite good care of us and that was even before she knew the it was our first time. When she did find out she explained about how they have live music on some nights. I’m already making plans to come in for Sinatra Sunday soon! It’s a great place to come in a just relax. My only cons are no live music on Mondays and I couldn’t find it at first (no sign) but later in the evening I realized that no sign is part of Lucky’s charm.Pros + No SignCons – No Sign, No live music on Mondays
I love this place. It definitely is as authentic as you can get for an Irish pub. A lot of the bartenders and bouncers are actually from Ireland, and I don’t think I can remember a time I’ve been there when I haven’t heard at least one Irish accent among the people in front of the bar as well. I recently found out that the owners actually live in Ireland, so I suppose that’s part of the reason why it’s so legit. The live music in the front is consistently good, and the beer selection is great. The atmosphere is really warm and cozy, and at Christmas time they put up a lot of decorations and lights, which makes it feel like a movie set or something. The food is also pretty good, a little more on the average side and they have a relatively small menu, but it’s cheapish. The only downside–and I suppose you get this at any bar–is that they won’t let you sit at the tables until 9:00 if you’re not getting dinner. The Middle East is definitely a staple for hosting mid-sized bands that trek through Boston. The Downstairs venue has got to be my favorite: there are Christmas lights strung all over, the lighting is perfectly dim, and the sound is pretty great. And who could forget the $2 PBRs?!
