Where is the Best Home Decor in Chicago, Illinois?
After being ignored and lied to in other stores, I discovered Home Carpet One. There I found the tile I had previously been told was “not available.” And, Rosie Flores was very helpful in figuring the square footage of the various tile choices I needed. The price was in the high end of my price range, but I saved the $40 delivery charge by picking it up myself. Rosie was pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable. It was a relief! I’ve gotta watch myself — every time I come out here, I end up packing the car with stuff that is cool, but I don’t really need. Everything is great and the prices are almost ridiculous. Yeah, it’s not the kind of stuff that’s going to last for 50 years — but you’re paying $19 for a bookshelf. And be warned, most of the furniture needs to be put together — not too difficult, but it can be time-consuming.Pros + Huge selectionCons – Way crowded
We bought about 10k worth of draperies from The Silk Trading Company less than a year ago. About 7 months into owning our drapes one of the three pairs we purchased exhibited excessive fading. Our windows are tinted and double-paned and face east, so the light is not intense. We brought this to their attention and after over six weeks of calls and emails we were told by the owner, Andrea Kay, that it is normal for this fabric to fade. It is laughable that customers are expected to know that fabric they are buying from a drapery store will fade in less than a year. They offered us 15% off a replacement order and free black-out lining.I will never buy anything from them again and I recommend to anyone considering buying expensive drapery to avoid this store.My wife and I have done a lot of decorating, remodeling etc. and this is the most ridiculously bad customer service I have ever experienced.We are not people who regularly bad-mouth businesses. Shopping at Cole’s was the best decision my wife and I could have made. We are newly married and trying to furnish a two bedroom apartment on a budget. Right from the moment we walked in to the store we were politely greeted and given personal attention. As the other reviewers have said the staff was very polite and knowledgeable. I might venture to say they knew what we wanted more then we did after just a few simple questions. The couches we purchased are really comfortable, look great, and cost half the price of anywhere else we had looked. On the delivery day the movers were very kind and helpful. Sadly our sofa did not fit but Kevin was very kind about it. Kevin saved us and even though he really didn’t have any room to take it back he did. We were able to exchange it no problems and they were very nice about it. We love that store quite a bit.
