Where is the Best Haute Haircut in New York, New York?
I’ve been going to Chris Scena for my haircuts for two years. He’s the best guy around for men and women’s cuts — I’ve sent dozens of my friends to him and they have all loved their cuts. So imagine my surprise when all of a sudden, I call 303 for my next appointment and they tell me that he is “gone.” Worse yet, they refuse to give me his contact information! But, after looking for weeks and weeks, I finally found him at Rizza Salon (212.206.7622). The place is much quieter and calmer than 303. I still have a lot of warm feelings about this place, but I’m gonna follow Chris wherever he goes.Pros + Chic, cool locationCons – Pricey, no more male stylists
I’m not a big review writer, but I thought I’d write one for Cutler because I love consulting reviews before I go to a salon.I’m extremely picky about my color and have been to dozens of NYC salons. Cutler was one of the best color experiences I’ve had – walked in with medium brown hair and walked out with pretty honey blonde that worked with my skintone. Christy did an amazing job at weaving in the right colors where they should be, and finding a flattering color for me. That is no easy feat – many salons will just put on the same blonde highlights on everyone and not care. This looks like rich, beautiful color that was done by someone who knows their stuff. I would definitely go back, which is saying a lot because I rarely go to the same salon twice. I was really impressed with the staff, the prices ,and the quality of service. I also loved that blowouts are included with the color!All in all a wonderful experience for me – I might go back here for my cuts, too!Pros + color
Carolyn DePalma is an incredibly gifted colorist. I change my hair color regularly and am *never* disappointed with the results. Over the past four years I’ve gone from nearly black to cherry chocolate to auburn to copper, through six shades of red from cranberry to pale strawberry, back to near my natural blonde, lighter than my natural color and then dark again — and and it has looked fabulous every. single. time. I’m constantly getting compliments, especially from my friends, family, and co-workers who see all the transformations and are amazed that my colorist can make any shade look good on me. Carolyn has a real talent for taking the ideas I have about what I want and making them into a reality that flatters my skin tone, eye color, and whatever haircut I have at the time. And my hair looks and feels so healthy and glossy! Most people can’t believe I color it at all because it never looks processed. I can’t wait for my appointments with her and always walk out feeling
I gave it an extra star because of the free apple. I had a manicure scheduled with Alexandra and not only did they forget about me, I sat there for an hour and a half and no one asked me if I needed anything. Ultimately they made me leave without my manicure because Alex was already booked!!!!!!!!! I told them unless I get a gift certificate for a free manicure next time I could not come back, They said no, but they could give me a free bottle of Hair Shine worth about 10 bucks…gimme a break.Pros + in BendelsCons – too expensive neighborhood for service given
