Where is the Best Haute Haircut in Minneapolis, Minnesota?
I’m new to the area and thought I would give it a try when I was given a coupon at my new apt. I was weary off the bat when I saw the over-bleached, orange tanned young girls at the front desk. I waited 30 min after my appt time and was told it was a miscommunication(overheard another client being told the same thing). They offered me water in a crappy wine glass(it was ridiculous and seemed pretentious, who wants to carry a wine glass around?! Give me a water bottle that I can hold and put a cap on when I move from chair to dryer, etc and won’t get hair flying in it!)As far as the style, I knew what I wanted and brought photos of the color and the stylist proceeded to chatter on and on about why my part was wrong and how she would do a “soft and feminine” cut(which she repeated about a dozen times) and not being too edgy or angeled(maybe I like trendy and angled!) without listening or asking what I wanted. First off, first time going there a few weeks ago. I knew I wanted something different but I didn’t want to go too drastic and shave my head again, especially since it took about two years to grow it out to a point where I felt gorgeous again. But I hadn’t cut my hair in all that time, I was full of split ends and the un-even growth pattern that come with growing the hair all over your head from scratch. Not too mention i’m not too high-maintainence so my hair isn’t peak condition but I don’t dye or iron it to make worse either.I had Carolyn, who I explained all this to. I had a rare opportunity with some time to myself and really needed a spa experience. I don’t like Aveda products (they dry out my skin and hair) so it’s hard to find places in Minneapolis to go. Haven was perfect!The space is open and airy in an Uptown Loft. I had booked a package. It started with a pedicure. The esthetician, Tammy Boots, was sweet and funny. While I soaked my feet she brought me a cup of hot chocolate – perfect for the very cold winter day. The pedicure was relaxing and she spent a lot of time massaging my feet and legs.Next we went into a private room for a facial and massage. Tammy suggested that we combine the two, which would allow the face masks to have more time to penetrate. She also gave me a brow wax, which went quickly and smoothly. The massage was fantastic. She really worked out some of my knots and I feel so much better. On some parts she used hot stones to really work in the relaxing heat.Best of all was the facial. Haven uses Dr.
When I lived with my parents I had a fantastic stylist and colorist at a salon in my home town. When I left for college, I began with what would become a continuous search for a stylist who would make me feel/look great. I tried the salon near campus, which had cheap student cuts and was a quick walk and was never terribly impressed. Then I got a gift card to Juut . I had never been, so when I called to make an appointment for a cut and foil, I was not caught off guard by them giving me only one appointment time and one name. Halfway through my color, the colorist asked who was cutting my hair and I said that I didn’t know. When he checked we learned that no cut had been scheduled. Thankfully they were able to find someone to blowdry my hair. So, I scheduled an for a cut appointment with that stylist. The color I got was fine, not inspiring or amazing.
