Well first I must say that I was a little skeptical after reading all of these glowing reviews. It must be said that they are all true ! What a truly wonderful experience !!!I couldn’t be any happier. My appointment was with Christopher. He is such a charmer and quickly put all my fears to rest. He did not rush and made sure that we both were on the same page before we proceeded. He truly loves what he does and it shows !I asked for the perfect “summer blond” highlights and for some long and medium layers in my hair.The end result was PERFECT!My highlights and my new cut were exactly what I wanted. As soon as I returned to work the next morning my boss told me that my hair looked “AMAZING”. WOW, that’s a first.I would recommend gloss to anyone looking for a great new stylist or salon.Gloss is bright and clean, sparse, and extremely relaxed. This was my first time at M Salon and immediately I was greeted with warm welcomes and amazing hospitality with couches and complimentary hot green tea. The entire atmosphere was very mature and relaxing. Not one person wasn’t up to date with their style from head to toe which made me confident that it didn’t matter who was helping me, they all understand fashion, and unique styles. Veronica had such a warm personality and asked me a few questions about how i live my everyday life. At first I thought she was just being friendly and making time go by with pleasant conversation, but then she told me with the busy life I have, I should consider a few things in choosing my next, new hairstyle. I have a very short cut to begin with, so i didn’t think there was a way for her to make it anymore special than the next short cut. I was in search of an update to my look and needed corrective color. I read many of the reviews here and decided to give Sami a try. I was a bit anxious about going to someone for the first time and not only getting a hair cut but a corrective color as well. Darling Frida, dressed in one of her many cute outfits, greeted me as I waited for my appointment time. Sami has a great eye for style and color and immediately came up with several ideas, all of them good. Most stylists want to cut more hair than I am willing to part with but Sami just wanted to modify the cut I had. Sami also acknowledged that my dark brown hair needed a lift but not with red which is what every stylist I ever had wanted to do. She said I had gold tones in my skin and it wouldn’t work. Yay! Finally! Someone who understands my hair and my preferences. She did a fabulous job of marblizing with four different colors and touching up my roots with the fifth. What a fabulous color I ended up with!
I was a previous frequent visitor to the Urban Retreat West location prior to 2005. I stopped going to this spa because I’d moved away, but a friend had given me a $200.00 gift cert to this place in 2006. I never used it, had misplaced it, until finally rediscovering it while unpacking boxes in my move back to Houston this year. Unbelievably, I contacted Jade in Sales and she said I could still use it! How awesome was that?! Thanks to Urban Retreat, I had a great experience at this location with massage therapist, Sandra. The salt scrub was excellent and so was the massage she gave me afterward, and her courteous and professional attitude was great. I was turned off from getting massages before, but she turned me right back around.Suggestions: the attentiveness from receptionists or support staff were minimal as you’re only told to go or find the changing room, with no help in locating your robes/sandals, and wherever else you’re supposed to go.
