Where is the Best Happy Hour in Portland, Oregon?

This restaurant is a gem, set in what I believe is an old Dairy Queen or other fast food building. The food is seasonal, with a specials menu that usually is almost half the size of the regular menu. The quality of the fresh and perfectly cooked sea food is beyond compare in the Portland area. If this restaurant was downtown, it would be impossible to get a table! Everything is made from scratch, from the wonderful soups, to the fantastic scones that accompany your breakfast selection on the weekends. Fresh Salmon or Halibut dishes run are under $18, including soup or salad, and the portions are large. I usually cannot pass up the crab cakes, which have ALOT of wonderful crab in them, and are always cooked perfectly (never greasy). The cheap eats menu is great, served during certain hours at dinner, this menu has 5-7 selections for $2.95, with a selection that changes each month. Some of the servers are less than attentive, but this appears to be because this place is a little

This is a great place to go for a nice dinner, if parents are in town, etc. The food is interesting, vaguely Mediterranean-themed. They used…

I have been here two times now, and in my honest opinion this is the hands down best bar in town. I know my cocktails and I know my spirits. I read a lot and I rarely talk to a bartender who knows more than I do. I’m not someone who is easily impressed. But I was blown away within minutes of sitting down at the bar in Teardrop.Their spirit selection is limited but carefully picked. They have a lot of lesser known yet exceptional sprits. They don’t use a lot of infused vodkas or liqueurs. And they don’t use a lot of fruit purees and fruit juices like most other cocktail bars today. Places like that tend to artfully mask the taste of the spirits. Instead the people at Teardrop try to enhance the qualities of the spirits using superior ingredients. I’ve never seen a place which has put so much time and thought into their ingredients. Most other bars take things like tonic water, vermouth, olives, and maraschino cherries for granted. At Teardrop, all those things are carefull

I have been going to Hall Street for as long as it has been in existence, which I think is over 20 years!! I can honestly say that I’ve NEVER had a bad meal there. On occassion, the service has been rather slow, but usually is commensurate with how busy they are—if you go on a wk. end , or Friday night , you are going to wait–even with reservations (which I would ALWAYS recommend here. This you will find AT ANY good popular place–which this is !! My complaint –when lunching with a friend yesterday{ 9/11/07} , was that at the end of our meal, we felt like we were being “hounded” by our server to pay the tab, and be on our way.!! This was a week-day afternoon, and they were not particularly busy. I did not like this, and wrote a “comment card” stating such and mailed it to the GM. This waiter was otherwise faultless.Pros + excellent food nice atmosphere, friendly staff , good parkingCons – inconsistent service depending on your server, cocktails excellent but overpriced

My friend and I were in search of a good place for Happy Hour and decided to try the Empire Room. The place itself is cozy, cute, and somewhat romantic. We went during a time when business was slow, so the service was fairly fast. I ordered a lemon drop and felt it tasted a little watered down. My friend ordered the Butter Pecan which I thought was much better. We ordered artichoke dip and quesadillas. I thought the quesadillas were very tasty, however the artichoke dip was just so-so. We had a good time, the atmosphere was great, but it wasn’t the greatest food/drink I’ve ever had (at least as far as Happy Hour goes). Maybe I just ordered the wrong things.Pros + atmosphere, fast serviceCons – food was average, lemondrop was so-so
