Where is the Best Hamburger in Memphis, Tennessee?
I moved from Tn to Tx 20+ years ago and the first time my husband (who is from Tx) and I went to visit my family in Millington I told him that I was going to take him for some real BBQ. He was alittle skeptical about the coleslaw thing but after the first bite he was HOOKED!! This is the first place we go to eat when we make the trip back to Millington. Sometime I think he wants to go just to eat at TOPS and I can’t blame him……….IT IS GREAT!! I just wish we could go back more often! I’ve even tried to get my sister to send us this wonderful BBQ and fixin’s but I have yet to recieve any! 🙁 We will ALWAYS make TOPS our first stop when we visit!Pros + BBQ, Service with a smile, AtmosphereCons – Crowding
I like this place because it is not your average teen/college overun hangout. It is small but perfect. The service is always outstanding, which is rare in bar/grills. The food is good and the beer/wine selection is good. You get the atmosphere you want yet you also get good food,service, and decent crowd. I also like the fact that they are in good locations. You can go to Germantown and enjoy it instead of getting in downtown traffic, etc. LOVE it!Pros + good food, great service, not to crowdedCons – not too noisy, a little too small
i grew up in Memphis and i was there when they “moved” the seperated grease to new store-sounds ludicrous but was very entertaining, hype or not ! and the burgers really are great.yes they are small-imagine an original McDonald’s burger but the flavor from the grease is whatmakes it soo good. I worked at Mcdonald’s on Summer Ave as a teenager and we used the samegrease/oil over and over and just screened the impurities out at night; as long as grease is kept coveredand strained should be able to reuse indefinitely! Pros + simple burger-great for lunch or a snackCons – price is much higher than it use to be
One word, GREAT. The name says it all. Taste like you spent hours in the “Backyard.” Expensive for fast food but cheap for a sit-down resturant burger. All burgers are made to order so you may have to wait 5 minutes but well worth the wait.If you eat in they bring your food to the table on a silver plater.
