Where is the Best Hamburger in Key West, Florida?
Carolyn’s on Duval Street. We ate there March 2007. First I peeked in on the patio. Nice shaded area and tables for four. I peeked over to see what others were eating and saw some substantial portions, so we walked in. We were greeted promptly and seated. While waiting for the waitress we noted some wild chickens walking around amongst the tables. Nice touch, we don’t see that everywhere. My wife ordered the Cajun Jambalaya and I ordered a salad. The jambalaya was full of shrimp and sausage as well as chicken. I found it to be a really good value and very tasty too, not too spicy but good to the last drop and not overloaded with sauce. My Southwest Salad was also good and had plenty of chicken. Although they said it came with a lime dressing, never tasted any of it and luckily I asked (twice) for a Ranch dressing on the side and that worked out just fine. I can recommend this place for both value and great location.
The food was ok – nothing bad but nothing great. The atmosphere was really fun though and I’d reccomend for people to pop by, have a drink and maybe an appetizer just to say they’ve been. The Sloppy Joe’s are sloppy but good but nothing you can’t make at home. My only gripe about this establishment was that our waitress…
We stopped for dinner on Duval, and with all the restaurants, it is hard to choose. We checked out the menu, and decided to give it a whirl…It turned out to be a great choice. The food and service were wonderful, the portions huge…so if in a hotel and you cant take a doggy bag, consider sharing meals…Try the chicken quesidilla’s they were stuffed full and wonderful…
We love Alice’s and Alice the chef. She and her staff are the best. You walk in and feel so welcome. Bright colors and local art work is everywhere. The food is creative, staff knowledgeable, the cocktails great — especially the martinis and the wine list, filled with hand picks from Alice. Do not miss at least one of your meals at Alices. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner; I would try one of each. Also, do not miss dessert.
