Where is the Best Hamburger in Charleston, South Carolina?
Like many of the great landmark Charleston eateries, Your Place is not your average run-of-the-mill restaurant. This hole-in-the-wall, out-of-the-way joint is a can’t miss in Charleston. Home cookin’ at it’s finest. The BEST burgers for a fraction of what you would pay at all the uppity places. If you don’t try Your Place when your in ChuckTown, your missing out. It be like going to DC without checking out the White House.Pros + BURGERS, BURGERS, BURGERSCons – Parking, Finding the place
My first review. My coworkers and I are experts at finding great places to eat lunch (I’m pretty good at eating dinner, too). We have a tradition with Brecks. If we bring someone for the first time, we buy their meal. Most of my friends have perpetuated the ritual. It’s not expensive and you just showed somebody a true gem. The setting in North Chuck is not fancy but Brecks more than makes up for it with the best lunch specials in the tri-county. NY Strip, baked potato, salad, drink for under 10…are you out of your mind? All cuts of meat here are first rate and I’ve yet to have a waitress that wasn’t a pure delight. If you’ve never been to Brecks, stop. Stop what you’re doing right now, get in your car, drive to Brecks and eat. Then come back and read this: “I told you so.”
I like the bartending staff and the people are very friendly, however, the dessert selection could use some improvement. I ordered a chocolate something that was an upside down Lil Susie or Ding Dong type with icecream and whipped topping…I ordered some port wine but that was not carried either. The bartender comp’d the dessert but I still tipped him well.I’d recommend a multilayered chocolate cake with icing in each layer and the shaved chocolate on top and keep 1 or 2 ports on hand…you may even get a dessert crowd to frequent your place.I have had other items on the entree and appetizer menus and everything is great.Pros + inviting, friendly atmosphereCons – lacks quality dessert items
We just moved to the area, and heard that Melvin’s was ranked the best BBQ in Charleston and their burgers were ranked #1 in the US by Emeril so we definitely had to see what all the hype was about. It definitely lived up to the hype! The food is so good! The yellow mustard based sauce was new to us, and we will never look at BBQ the same way again. The burger was also very good, and their fries are superb. Great sweet tea too. We have only lived here for about 1 month, and we have been to Melvin’s 3 times. It is a definite ‘don’t miss.’
