Where is the Best Hair Salon in New York, New York?

I have short hair and have had the same stylist for the last 12 years. She knew exactly what I wanted every time and did a fantastic job. You can imagine that when I moved away from her to NYC I felt at a complete loss. I tried several stylists at random salons but my hair either ended up way too short or lacked any kind of edge or sophistication. That is until I stumbled onto Brandi at The Beehive Salon. Brandi completely understands how to cut and style short hair and is incredibly skilled at it. It is not often that one finds TWO people in their lifetime that absolutely get how to do their hair AND are so affordable. If you are looking for a tremendously talented hair stylist, especially for short hair, Brandi at The Beehive Salon is your gal! Pros + talented, skilled stylist, affordable priceCons – none

I went to Mousey Brown’s last week and was not happy with my cut – it was much shorter than I wanted. However, when the owner found out how unhappy I was, she made a point of contacting me to see if there was anything they could do to make the situation better. There wasn’t (my hair is now too short to really do anything with), but it’s only fair that I point out how accomodating they are at this salon and that they go out of their way to make their customers, even the disgruntled, cranky ones, happy. Pros + nice people, nice atmosphere, very accomodating

The usual routine for me after a haircut is to: bawl about how terrible it looks, wait a few months for it to completely grow out, then wait as long as possible before i have to get back into the sick cycle of haircuts. I’ve been hopping around trying to find a stylist that won’t make me miserable for the next three months, and i think I’ve found her. Machiko was super attentive to how i described the quirks of my hair, what i specifically didn’t and did want out of my cut without having a definite idea of what i wanted. She soaked it all up and returned with a few cut ideas. I approved one and she went at it. Now, I’ve never been a fan of short cuts because my facial structure is round. i didn’t want to look like a tennis ball face. However, after she explained every little detail of what she was going to perform, i felt reassured that this was a joint effort and not just her chopping my hair off. There were no surprises, except for how ridiculously pleased i was. i ended up

NIck A. is terrific. I needed a change. He listened to my concerns, put in his two cents and gave me a great cut. I went back again, and it’s consistent. My hair looks terrific. I have naturally wavy (depending on the weather, curly) hair and I like getting someone who knows what they’re doing with it. He’s also very personable. Michael, the colorist, did a partial highlight on my hair that was so thorough I couldn’t believe I wasn’t getting a full color. The grow out is so gradual, that it’s been almost 3 months and it still looks fresh. She color corrected some brassiness that I had in there from another salon. The look is much more natural and flattering. One problem, is that there is this ridiculous extra fee for blow drying your hair after this color/highlight service as someone else mentioned. The girl who was assisting Michael that day (so sorry I don’t remember her name) would not let me leave the salon with a wet head. She told me since it’s not that busy she wa

Ok so here’s what you need to know. First I am about as rational as a 5 year old child when it comes to my hair. I NEVER want to cut it or fuss with it. In fact, there are plenty of days when I find that I actually have mats that resemble dread locks in the back of my head at the bottom. Ok, that’s a little embarrassing but it needs to be said. I only brush it occasionally and it usually looks long and a little ragged which can come off as a little charming – which I like. So, I realized that I need a hair color treatment for the summer just to liven things up and I heard about this place Panyc (cute, paNYC) Uh, it took me a while to get it. Anyway, I get there after calling for directions while standing right outside the entrance (it IS hard to spot, but the receptionist was more than patient) and I sit in the chair musing at how my moderately ragged hair looks DRAMATICALLY more ragged when compared with all the perfectly styled heads of hair in the place. But, I still maintain
