Where is the Best Hair Salon in New York, New York?
Upon walking into the salon I immediately felt welcomed and at ease. There is no “snotty” attitude (and I had accidently forgotten my first appointment the week before) – just acceptance. I had my hair cut by Timothy – what an amazing listener. He did exactly what I asked for and couldn’t be any sweeter. At first, I was a little worried that he really did listen to me and left my hair a bit long (no one ever listens so I stress the length) while taking off just enough and that he wasn’t creative. I was worried that the cut I asked for lacked cutting edge style. I was so wrong!! As the days pass I get more and more compliments on my hair from “wow, your hair has great shape”, to “did you just get longer layers” (I have always had long layers), to “your hair even looks gorgeous in a ponytail”. Any way that I wear it men and women compliment my new ‘do. It is even more manageable and blowdrying time is less.Basically, I think Timothy made the layers I had been getting before from
Read about Rena from Citysearch after a year-long stay in Napa, CA where my hair was absolutely fried due to the dry weather. Walked in off the street last week and met Rena and she sat down with me, and we discussed options with color, dealng with the dryness and gray hair. Made an appointment for the following day. Rena told me that she had thought about my hair and repaired my hair and cut it. She took three hours with me and when I walked out, I really felt like I had been taken care of by a family member – she is that thoughtful, caring and really knows her color. I appreciate the years of experience she brings with her and her knowledge of the business. She also knew the keeping the youthfulness of my color was important and I really appreciated how she didn’t push her thoughts on me and allowed me to feel very comfortable. The cut she gave me is amazing! I’ve always spent so much time with my hair and I literally get up and scrunch it or turn it upside down and it looks
I’ve been to a large handful of NYC hair stylists in the last 10 years, paying $40 – $150 for a men’s cut trying to find someone that gets it right every time. Some have been great, others just eh… I look for three things in a stylist: location, consistency and value. Oggi provides all three. Andrea gets it right every time. I won’t be looking elsewhere any more. Thanks Andrea!Pros + great haircut every time
I found Anthony in 1980, shortly after I’d moved to New York. There was a transit strike at the time, and I had to walk home several miles every day. One evening, I set as a goal to look in the window of every barber shop I passed, to find the very best in Manhattan. The best turned out to be Anthony. I could see that his haircuts were absolutely superior; I could not have guessed, as I looked through his window, that he was a published poet, a student of the arts, and one of the most thoroughly warm and decent people I would ever meet. After all these years, Anthony knows my hair far better than I ever will, and I completely trust his aesthetic judgment. What sets his hairstyles apart is that you leave with a completely natural appearance — you look your best without looking like someone styled your hair. This naturalness, I think, is one reason why performing artists often become his loyal clients (as you’ll see in other reviews). The nice thing about trusting your hair styli
I started going to HairPi by word of mouth while I worked in the LES-2005, was about to get married, needed a fair priced salon and someone that could cut my stereotypical “Asian” hair -razoring and all. I got set up with Lindsey and am SO in love with her and the job she does for me and my hair! Since then I have had my hair highlighted, cut, and am about to go a pretty blonde. I have also convinced, or shall I say recruited my husband, Jason, as a fan and frequent’s James’ chair and we now go to our appointments together just to catch up with the Hair Pi crew! Who knew my college boyfriend who bought a shaving kit from Wal-Mart now dons hair product and makes sure he gets his brows trimmed at the end of each session?!Now, let me just say that I have been EVERYWHERE from expensive salons/spas in the Upper East Side to the suburban franchises in New Jersey. My spectrum is quite vast and it has been quite a journey and trek to find Hair Pi. Not only are their cuts gorgeous they ar
