Where is the Best Hair Salon in New York, New York?
I found not one but two great stylists at this salon. Dan really does an amazing job with my color. I like highlights but absolutely hate it when it grows out and my roots are noticable. Since going to Dan, I don’t have that problem anymore. My highlights look so natural, like I’ve spent alot of time out in the sun, but when it starts to grow out, it’s barely noticable, even to me. He is the first colorist I’ve ever gone to who can accomplish this. LOVE HIM! And then there’s Thom. A couple of weeks ago I decided spur of the moment to get my crazy curly hair cut. I was given an appointment with Thom. Told him I was so over blowdrying and flat ironing and wanted to go natural, wash and go, but that my hair had a mind of it’s own. While he cut my hair the assistant watched (to learn) and I was amazed to listen to him explain why he was cutting my hair the way he was. He found all my crazy cowlicks and pointed out to her the way my natural locks were falling and he cut my hair
At first the stylist seemed nice, but when she started cutting, I could tell that she wasn’t making it the way that I wanted it to look. I brought a picture to make it easier to show her what I wanted, then was telling her what I wanted, then she was very quick with her mouth and cut me off in saying, “Will you let me cut?” I DID tell her I didn’t like it, then she got very defensive with me. I’m surprised I even tipped her just to be polite! It looks nothing like the picture I brought and now cutting off 10″ I have to wait a while until it grows back to fix it. Would NOT recommend to ANYONE!!!
I’m not a big review writer, but I thought I’d write one for Cutler because I love consulting reviews before I go to a salon.I’m extremely picky about my color and have been to dozens of NYC salons. Cutler was one of the best color experiences I’ve had – walked in with medium brown hair and walked out with pretty honey blonde that worked with my skintone. Christy did an amazing job at weaving in the right colors where they should be, and finding a flattering color for me. That is no easy feat – many salons will just put on the same blonde highlights on everyone and not care. This looks like rich, beautiful color that was done by someone who knows their stuff. I would definitely go back, which is saying a lot because I rarely go to the same salon twice. I was really impressed with the staff, the prices ,and the quality of service. I also loved that blowouts are included with the color!All in all a wonderful experience for me – I might go back here for my cuts, too!Pros + color
i’ve never had such a lovely experience at a salon. i entered with hair halfway down my back, and left feeling totally liberated with the perfect pixie cut. kate was charming, sassy, and made an artful cut look easy as pie (not that i really find pie particularly easy, but you know what i mean). the staff is cool and laid-back, completely free of the a-hole vibe that many high-end salons prefer. while $100 is more than i typically prefer to pay, it was worth it. i have a wash and wear cut, and i left seagull feeling prettier than i have in years. for realz y’all, this place is wonderful.Pros + amazing, creative, quick, friendly, totally enjoyableCons – more than i would typically pay as a gal on a budget
