The fact is that HairM provides a really nice experience for their customers and they do so at an extraordinary price. I grew up in L.A., where you can get a facial, scalp massage, neck rub, and glass of wine with your haircut–if you pay hundreds of dollars for it. At HairM, those are standard parts of the King’s Cut, which costs under $50. It’s more expensive than Rudy’s or Bishop’s, but you get a genuinely relaxing experience that you can really look forward to. David has been doing my mom’s hair for years, and he has done wonders for her – encouraging her to take risks (dyeing her blonde hair a spicy red, cutting it into a Natalie Portman-esque pixie cut, etc.) without pushing her too far. He is great at making her look trendy, yet age-appropriate. However, for all his skill, I was originally skeptical at getting my hair done by the same person as my mother does. And what a stupid thought! I came in to Wild Root at 6 o’clock on a Wednesday evening with a disaster on my hands: I had attempted to bleach my dark brown hair to a bright blonde on my own. Predictably, I ended up with a disgusting copper mess – and I had to have blonde hair for a play I was in. David went to incredible lengths to save my hair – a process that ultimately lasted 2 1/2 hours – while still giving me the color I was desperate for. And he succeeded in a commendable manner.
