Where is the Best Hair Color in Austin, Texas?
I am writing to let everyone searching for ?the best? salon in Austin for highlights and lowlights to stop looking any further. Go to Skye Salon and ask for Laura (although the others are likely just as good). I am a lawyer from LA and I am particular about my look for work. I had gone to Vidal Sassoon for more than 20 years because the quality of hair coloring and cutting is consistently outstanding. I tried two other places in Austin and at one, I was there for hours and at the other, my hair was over-processed. A nightmare to try to fix. I read reviews on CitySearch and found Laura at Skye Salon. I checked the reviews at Yelp too and took a chance. You should too. Laura is excellent with color –both highlights and weaving in darker shades– a superb stylist, experenced and thus quick. The rates are reasonable and comparable to other salons. I recently treated my mother to a haircut/conditioning treatment at Max Fx for her birthday. I was very excited about the day because she never gets the opportunity to go anywhere nice to be pampered. However, upon arriving, my proud smile quickly faded and turned to embarrasment when, while standing at the counter waiting to be acknowledged, I was completely ignored for at least a full minute by not one, but three people. For the amound of money I was spending on my tight budget I had hoped and expected for much better sercive, (and respect). Fortunately, thanks to Amanda, my mothers birthday experience was salvaged by friendly service, a beautiful haircut and a wonderful pampering treatment at the shampoo bowl. I received a great cut from Juan to, who was also very friendly and professional. Thank you Amanda and Juan. My husband and I had moved to Austin and were looking for someone who could give me a good haircut for my thin, no body hair and also give my husband a good shave along with a haircut. My husband went to Super Cuts and came back looking like he had his hair done by a Cuisinart. I went to Trent and he worked with the natural waves I had only in one part of my head and gave me a no fuss hair-do that is the best I have ever had. I can travel and not have to haul along blowers, gels, etc. and it looks fabulous. He keeps my color looking natural and hides all my grey in this great style even while it has grown out so I can stretch my hair coloring to every 8 weeks. He truely is terrific. Kim Tolbert has been my hair stylist for 9 years. I visit her for foil highlights and lowlights for my blonde hair. I have never gotten a bad haircut or style from her. She is a highly skilled stylist who keeps up to date with the latest trends in her field. The owner of Salon Presly, Michael, runs a great salon. He has been open for over a year and owns this quaint ,little shop in a safe, downtown, Austin neighborhood. I like going here…it is a low stress, eclectic little salon , and the owner takes great pride and cares about every customer who walks in the door. The shop is easy to find and offers a free parking lot in the back. All in all it is a great experience from the time you walk in the door until you leave.
