A great place to work out and an even better view since the Embarcadero over pass was pulled down. I only go there for the SHOTOKAN KARATE classes taught by 5th Degree Black Belt Mr. Wayne Shockness….

I’ve been here a few times, and will return again. Once you navigate your way through the hotel, and past the rather inhospitable spa lobby the actual spa itself is quite inviting. The “waiting” area is attractive and the little nibbles were to my taste. During one visit I felt as though I had the spa to myself, another time the spa appeared to be full of convention goers and was crowded and noisy. My treatments have mostly been satisfactory, although one massage was marred by a therapist who could have paid more attention to what she was doing. Locker room amenities were pleasant, with an abundance of towels. The downtown location is either a plus or a minus, it can be a bit challenging to wend you way through traffic and find parking especially on busy days.

I am so grateful to a friend who suggested that I go to Thomas at the Chakra Salon for a haircut while I was visiting in Marin County. What a marvelous experience!! My hair is very curly and white – each of which equals unruly! I was unable to control it – much less style it. Thomas was engaging – delightfully friendly, professional to the core, and amazingly gifted with shears – a true stylist in every sense of the word! Enough time has elapsed since Thomas cut and styled my hair that I have found that my hair has grown in such a way that I can still “deal” with it – for the first time in my life!! 🙂 I hope to be able to fly to San Francisco to make an appointment with Thomas for my next haircut and to be encouraged by his warm, caring, friendly manner. He is a well versed, intelligent person whose conversations are provocative. A real winner!! Be sure to go to Thomas at Chakra if you want a superior hair cut, a beautifully flattering style that is easily manageable aft
