This place is fabulous. The service was completely wonderful. They were helpful, attentive, caring and always there for the customers, like we were their #1 priority. I have received two services there, one the massage… amazing I was completely in a daze after from being so relaxed. I had Victor as my masseuse and he was fabulous. I also had a bronze and glow which is amazing. Their shower room is possibly the best shower ever invented. I could live in it. Oh and their shampoo and conditioner smells to die for. They don’t rush you in any way and it feels as though they are doing everything in their power to make your day better. Their was a schedule mishap during my massage and in return they gave us two peices of their delicious cheesecake as a token for our inconvenience. We still did not wait more than ten minutes for them to fix the problem. I highly recommend this fabulous spa.Pros + Fabulous staff, great facility, really good service and spaCons – Little pricey

In the summer of 2000, I slipped and fell in a super market severely injuring my low back and cervical spine. I had not known pain like that before, except for the birth of my child. I went to see my family doctor who gave me pain and anti-inflammatory medication, sent me for some x-rays, then to see a back surgeon. Doctor #2 also wanted me to take medication and to stay off work for 4 to 6 weeks and get more e-rays in the form of MRI’s, then see another back surgeon that was the best in the field for the injury’s I had . He was to become known to me as the “Doctor’s doctor” as he was referred to me.The day I seen the Doctor’s doctor he made a decision as to what surgery needed to be performed first, the cervical spine or the lumbar spine. Since my head aches and arm pain could be controlled and maintained by more pain medication and some other drugs. The “Doctor’s doctor” Said, I’ll perform a low back “LAMB-IN-DECK-TO-ME” as soon as tomorrow afternoon, it’s not a risky surgery, but o

Exercising is not my favorite activity and I’m not that athletic, but I am a complete fan of Studio X. The space is intimate, well-designed, very user friendly and close-in to downtown Portland. It is such a pleasure to work out in a quiet, private and focused space. But the real gem of this gym is the owner, Tim Irwin. I first began working with Tim after I fell while running on a trail and fractured my upper arm in eight places. The orthopedist warned me that if I did not do a rigorous program of physical therapy I could develop “frozen shoulder” and lose as much as 25% of my range of motion. Traditional physical therapy worked for the first few weeks after the injury, but progress quickly stalled. I went to see Tim and he designed a program for me to do both in-studio and at home to work gently but steadily to increase my range of motion without causing undue pain or risk. His plan was extremely effective and, despite the fact that I am in my 50’s, I have hadly any loss of r

My nephew had his Bar Mitzvah at Club Sport. The catering staff and chef were very accommodating with the menu, party planning and all the arrangements. We had 100 people (60 kids) and the staff kept them active and having a great time. The highlights were the climbing wall and dodgeball. Overall, the service was great and the party a big success. Pros + Great, flexible, friendly staff with lots of space to play.Cons – With so much space, your party can get fragmented.

10th Ave is in a class of its own. Hate the atmosphere of Bally’s or 24Hr? Come here…seriously. I did the 24Hr thing and it failed me – unfriendly staff, prissy atmosphere, and not a single locker to rent to keep my stuff in.I came to 10th Ave because I wanted to find a place that was smaller yet still had a breadth of equipment…and somewhere where I could keep my things in a locker overnight! It’s a great atmosphere to work out in – no pretentiousness – just genuine people who are there to get their hearts beating a bit faster and to maybe shed a few pounds. Trainers are around all the time if you have a quick question…and they’ll even say hi to you (even if they don’t know you!) This is the only place I’ve felt like I’ve been able to be ‘myself’ and workout. No guilty feelings for being overweight. Just a darn good gym.Pros + Regular people, friendly staff, rentable lockers!Cons – Trainer groups sometimes take up too much room
