Where is the Best Gym in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania?
I was looking for a gym that would motivate me to actually keep coming back (as I normally get quite bored working out indoors) and this is definately it! The studio has a really great, relaxed, almost zen-like feel to it. This feeling completely dissipates once you get into the cardio room however, where you can feel the energy rising. The red lighting and the intense, fast paced music get you revved and moving as the instructor guides you through a series of cardio intervals (on a bike or treadmill). You really feel your muscles burning (already!) after the 25 minute sequence. Then it’s off to lift some weights- you work at your own pace and with your own resistance, but the rest of the class and instructor motivate you to push your self to the limit. Then when your muscles have had enough it’s a half hour of much welcome stretching in the form of core-strengthening yoga exercises. I’m not exaggerating when I say that every muscle was sore the next day but even so I couldn’t wait for
I’ve been a member here for a long time. A lot of other gyms have opened and some have closed but these folks keep making the place better. Really like the many services in the same buildling and a very cool class choices. Only sun deck I can find at a gym and maybe it’s my “thing” but the place is truly clean. I went to the Sporting Club twice ona free pass–it was not nearly as clean. Can’t beat it even if it did cost more.Pros + Very upscale setting, amazing range of equipment, totlaly clCons – Crowded at rush hour.
This gym has great rates and is in a great location. My activities at any gym usually include elliptical, free weights and mostly fitness classes – the selection here is satisfactory. If I don’t have an appointment its hard to motivate myself to actually do something- so I go to my regularly scheduled classes and make sure I get my workouts in. The majority of the instructors here are motivating, creative and just plain nice! Classes can be extremely fun and you get out of them what you put into them – for aerobics, strength & stretching/yoga. However, a subset of the (older) women who attend the aerobics classes semi-regularly are there to say, “i’ve been to the gym” and are not there to really concentrate or push themselves to their personal best. These woman also take that (lack of) spirit out on others who are there to work really hard. I now feel uncomfortable at the gym and might have to pay that little bit more to go someplace with all the other younger stereotypical gym
