Where is the Best Gym in New York, New York?

I’ve been going to the big mega-gyms and found that I rarely went even though I paid so much money to join. The classes were either too crowded, or the gym area too intimidating with all these muscle guys checking you out, so it was easier just not to go. Then I found MonQi Fitness walking by and on a whim went in for a tour. It is so friendly and non-intimidating and now I find myself actually going there 3 – 4 times a week. Because it’s pay as you go (and you can pay for just the gym by the month) I didn’t feel like I was wasting my money and was able to try different classes, as well as use the gym on my own. I love the atmosphere there, so relaxed and sunny and clean, and the entire staff is very helpful and nice. The owner Lyn has the cutest little dachsund named Pinot and I have to say, many times, it is the thought of seeing Pinot that gets me off my couch and into MonQi. But I’m always glad I did because the variety of classes, from cardio, dance to pilates and yoga are

I have joined more gyms in my life than I care to count and like many people, I paid the monthly fee for absolutely nothing but a feeling of guilt. EDGE will be the last gym I join because they have me as a customer for life! When a coworker first brought me to EDGE, Denis explained that the reason people don’t go to gyms once they join is because the “one free lesson with a trainer” most gyms offer isn’t enough to teach people how to train on their own and keep them coming back. He’s right, I always felt intimidated and like I didn’t know what I was doing and the lack of individual contact made me feel invisible… so soon I really was invisible. Bally’s, NYSC, I’ve tried them all. Powerhit was the best thing that ever happened to me fitness-wise. It’s individual attention twice a week at no extra cost. It’s really building my skill set and confidence, not to mention my strength, so I know I will be able to keep it up on my own when the time comes with the continued emailed weekly w

I have been a client for over 10 years, and couldn’t be happier. Nimble offers a wide range of services, and the attention is unique; my trainer works with me on both long-term and short-term goals. The space is inviting; and the atmosphere is postive. The Nimble staff knows true health is both physical and psychological, and they strive to address all aspects. The studio isn’t huge, but I’ve never felt crowded. Especially in this current environment, you want to be working with the best in order to be doing your best!Pros + Individual attention, knowledgeable staffCons – small space

I have always been an overly athletic person, but after a spinal injury and surgery, that all changed. I had been doing simple pilates movements during my rehabilataion to build up the “core area” and had noticed a big change. I was ready for the next step, I wanted to up my pilates knowledge and skill but was not sure where to go. Gyms were to “rough” for me and did not give me the personal attention that i needed. A friend recommend Uptown Pilates on Madison. I was expecting to be let down like I was at the other “high end” studios I had researched. Was I wrong!!!!!! It was the most pleasant and rewarding experience I had ever done!!!! All of the instructors are classicaly trained and are very intune to the human body and it’s needs–and limits. They don’t just yell postions at you they really work with you to achieve your goals. A personal plus for myself was the fantastic lighting, great space, and most of all THE CLEANINESS!!!!!!!!!! Such a pleasure from a typical smelly gym. Really,

I go to Crunch Archive and I love the atmosphere. The staff is enormously friendly and the trainers are great. The facility is always clean. Its a little pricier than some other health clubs, but well worth it.Pros + friendly staff, clean environment
